I need one, and it's making me feel old. I just can't read some of the content labels, especially if they're on a black background. Right now I'm using an old pair of glasses as a magnifying glass. Just wondering if it really is the labels or if it's my eyes/age.

I keep one in a basket at my listing station along with a seam ripper, a knit picker, a tape measure, a small pair of sharp scissors, a travel sewing kit, and (maybe I shouldn't admit this) fabric glue. I use the magnifying glass mostly to see if what I think might be a small flaw or spot really is a flaw or spot.

Yes, but it's for looking for flaws on stamps

I'm feeling much better now, thank you! I'd been putting off buying one for quite some time because I just didn't like the idea that I needed it.

I have one at my computer desk where I type up the listings. I have to walk over to the window for the light and use the magnifying glass to see some writing.

I have one in my desk and one in the rolling cart of supplies I keep under the table I use for measuring and packing. Also a small one in my purse (about the size of a credit card and even has a light) that I sometimes use in the stores when I can't read a label or to check out possible damage. Labels that have been washed are sometimes hard to read, as are content labels. And I do have old eyes.

I have them all over - a big one with a handle on the library desk and small credit card size ones everywhere!

No, but I am going to purchase a few now that I hear everyone's uses for them. I actually have very good eyesight for close up things, but I have to look over top my glasses to be able to do that. I like the idea of one with a light on it for the thrifts though. One thrift in particular is very dark and packed, so getting stuff off the rack and back on is not pleasant.

I like my lighted one for looking into shoes and especially boots to see brand and size markings.

I got one with a built-in light for about $6 on clearance at Office Depot. DH laughed when I brought it home, but has sheepishly asked to use it several times I use it to read clothing labels, find/repair fabric flaws, and read the comics in the newspaper (they print those things wayyyy too small).

Had to laugh when I saw this. I always pull out the magnifying glass when I'm listing. Especially Free People and Anthro tags, they are written for young eyes.

I don't have a magnifying glass, but I have reading glasses scattered all over the house. I swear there's not a room in this house that doesn't have at least one pair within arms reach.

I've got cheapo OTC magnifier glasses for computer work, but have to switch to my progressive bi-focals for reading/positioning labels as I take pics...and even then I often wind up having to use my super-size magnifying glass. The worst care labels, IMO, are those clear "rubbery" ones. I now have 3 of the large magnifying glasses because SO was always borrowing mine and "losing it"...yeah, old age can be h*ll sometimes!

I could have written this. I also have a pair or two in the car and at my office. And they like to play musical chairs, so they're always moving around since I carry them on top of my head like a head band and forget they're there!

I'll be looking for the pair I "just had" and DH will sort of snort and point to my head. Brother, I'm losing it!

But I feel much better about buying a real one now.

Aw, don't sweat the small stuff. We all have one and we all need one. If only there was a small gizmo like that to fix all my deficiencies!

I could use a magnifying glass as well as a better dedicated EBAY area in general. I am finding tags harder to read. I find that I don't see as well the dimmer the lighting is. I need to hold a lot of things up to a lamp to read.

I look through my camera lens when I can't read a tag.

I look through my camera lens when I can't read a tag. I use my cell phone camera since it's usually within reach.

I use my magnifying glass all of the time and I wear readers too! I use it the most for toys. However, its getting really hard to tell the difference between: S,8 and 3 or 6 and 8 on clothes!

I used to have one before my dgd made off with it, I think she has it hidden in her play tent for when she's pretending to be a spy. I'm extremely near sighted so I generally just have to look over the top of my glasses to read the tiny print. I do have a pair of readers for when I wear my contacts, which is pretty much never nowadays.

I'm totally blind for close-up, so I've had a magnifying glass forever. I found a really pretty one at Cost Plus for like $4.
Stuff like pretty tools makes me happy. I use colored InkJoy roller ball pens too, 'cause the bright colors and smooth writing make me happy. Silly, I know, but hey, whatever helps brighten the drudgery part of this job...

Yes but it's a low magnification one so I also keep a 10X loup there for jewelry and, well, anything that needs more detailed examination.
