I know this happens, but it still boggles the mind. I sold this recently: www.ebay.com/itm/Odille-red-white-blue-floral-ruffle-cotton-skirt-misses-sz-8-spring-summer-RARE-/251797349663?rd=1It's apparently a popular Odille item and somewhat harder to come by as it's a discontinued item. I was at my new GW and saw the exact same skirt! Knowing it would probably be a quick sale, I went to grab it and it's a totally different brand (and RN #). I'm not saying it was SIMILAR to this skirt. I'm saying IT WAS THE EXACT SAME SKIRT. Little ruffles, pattern, etc. I know this happens. I have a nightgown from Wal-Mart that's the exact same stripe pattern of a mid-2000s Gymboree line. But still. Boggles the mind.

And thats a distinctive pattern that you would definitely recognize again.
Cute skirt.

Exactly.
It's not like it's a solid blue skirt and it was styled similarly.

Wow that is strange. I've heard of that with other things like cars. How they come off of the same line and just get slapped with different decals and trim.

I think it is more common with Anthro brands. I just sold a postmark top with an unusual basket weave pattern at the waist and I remember a thread here about it where we came up with the same top in THREE different labels - and I think they were all various Anthro brands.

I haven't seen it with Anthro but I have with other brands. I can't remember the specific brands now but I saw a black cardigan with rhinestone trim by two different brands. One I think was Jones New York. What is crazy to me is when items have the exact same tags. I see Foxcroft/Orvis shirts and Hot Cotton/Orchadia with the same exact tags. Definitely made in the same factory!

I know it happens. Just seems crazy that some people pay 5X for the exact same thing.

I can't remember, but it was a brand I'd never heard before and had a different RN from Odille/Anthro

Might have been an interesting experiment to list at the same price and keywords (except brand of course) and see if it sold quickly again based on KWs and look or if it was Odille that sold it.

Nah. I left it.
Considered it a "knock off" even though that doesn't quite apply in this case.

I once had an Odille skirt and a Persamon skirt that were identical. Heavily embroidered, in a pattern just for the skirt, not all over so not just a purchase of the same fabric. Can't remember what they sold for, though.

I've had it happen in childrens clothing several times. A few years ago I had 3 identical summer dresses, all with different brand tags. Also when the girls were little I made them matching capris from a fabric I bought at Hancocks Fabric. Then a couple weeks later I found capris in my size from Briggs with the identical fabric. We looked adorable on vacation LOL

I've seen it a few times over the years too. The one that stood out the most for me - a few years ago I sold a particular Anthro top (Edme & Esyllte I think) & then a couple of months later picked up the EXACT same top in a plus size from Cato (inexpensive southern chain.) I've also seen a couple of Anthro items duplicated by Walmart (Faded Glory.)
Makes me chuckle every time.
