This is one of the changes that came out that I think I might like. You can set a starting price and they will then drop it every week for 5 weeks until it sells or reaches minimum price where it will stay and buyers who "love it" will get notifications. I think it's pretty neat. You an use their price estimate or set your own. I am going to give it a try on some items that already have likes.

I used to work for a start up company that did auctions for overstock telecommunications equipment and used this type of auction. Depending on your high and low thresholds and duration of auction, it would lower the price by that increment every day. It was pretty ingenious and this was back in 1998-1999. Unfortunately, because of the incredible niche of what they wanted on their site, they folded within a couple of months.

This is similar to what I thought about doing when I came back to Ebay. I thought about doing a big upload on the 1st of the month. The first week everything would be full price. 2nd week 10% off, 3rd 20% off, 4th until the end of the month 30% off. Then while those sales are running work on new listings but not upload them until the 1st and do it all again. So in the next month the store would go back to no sale on the first week, 10% on the 2nd etc.
I don't know how well a progressive sale would work but seemed like a good idea in my head. I just never got around to trying it.

And I have my first success. Sold something for $70 + shipping, I think it was on its first markdown Super happy about this sale (even though I'll have to wait 3 weeks for my money). It was listed on ebay for $52 with zero watchers and hardly any views. Woohoo.

I may try it but I am not 100% sure I like it.
One of our CO only thrift stores has a 50% off sale every Saturday. Most people wait until Saturday to shop.
I would be worried that people would wait until the 4th week of the month to buy something.
Of course, they could also buy it in week 1 knowing that someone was going to snap it up on sale.
Who knows.....

I tried it on a few of my newer listings. We'll see what happens.

Please report back on how it works for you, sunset. I don't like my pricing out of my hands. I'm a list and wait for an eternity person. I don't know that I could go with the markdown route.

I like the fact that you pick your starting and ending prices. I start mine a little higher than they suggest, and don't go any lower than my minimum happy price, even though some of their suggestions for the ending minimum are unrealistic. I just listed a pair of Silver Brand jeans and they suggested I start at $50 and go down to $11. Yeah, not happening. I just put the prices I'm happy with.

Hey! The option is gone! I added flexible price to several listings yesterday, and went to add it to a few more today, and the feature is gone!
Is it gone for anyone else?

I never saw it on any of my listings. Maybe it was a trial run?

Where is it? Does it show up when you are doing the initial listing? Is it a box you check or is it just there?

I had the option of doing a fixed price or the flexible thing. They suggested a price range, but I went with my own price choices because I wasn't going to go as low as they suggested ($3.00) on a NWT Level 99 pants..

I guess I just don't have the option.

I still have yet to see it so I guess I don't either. I wouldn't use it anyway I'm sure.

It's just there, and very apparent, when you go to fill in the price. There are two divided areas where you can choose flexible price or fixed price and once you select one, it gives you all the info about it. Relative prices for fixed and how you will step down for flexible.

It's still gone on mine. I'm seriously annoyed. I was using it, hoping to move some old stock, and now it's gone. It's not there for new listings, either.
For those of you who still have it - are you verified sellers?

I'm verified. But I was just thrown out of the professional sellers club because I didn't have high enough $ volume.

I got thrown out too Frakin. I guess we're unprofessional.

I'm verified, not professional, and it was still on mine yesterday when I listed a few things.

I wrote and complained to Tradesy. After several back and forths, they figured out it's my browser - Firefox. They said it's designed to work with Chrome or Safari, neither of which I use, of course. (My IT husband's sarcastic comment: "Way to go with the mainstream browsers, Tradesy".)
Hopefully that will help some of you. What I don't get is that it DID work with Firefox, but doesn't now. Augh.

I've had horrible sales there this Summer. And it gets tiresome having to remove listings that end up selling on ebay. Haven't tried the markdown feature, sounds like a good idea though.

It could be worse. Ebay still uses IE.
