Wow:
The only way to get Amazon's support in creating a clean environment, according to Kahan, is by selling the entire catalog to Amazon. It's part of the online retailer's effort to be the one-stop shop for anything and everything. Plenty of brands have opted to team up with Amazon and hand over full collections instead of engaging in a never-ending fight.

Amazon seems to be copying eBay with their China junk that cannot be verified. I recently had a few orders that came by the slow boat from China. The result, I went to Last Call and Haute Look to shop instead. Maybe not everyone will do that and truthfully I don't buy the same products on Amazon anyway. I usually like their quick delivery of products for the home, sometimes their pantry and other stuff. But, I have bought handbags, coats and shoes on Amazon, it's just my go-to place for that stuff.
After the China junk I made sure not to even look there for clothing. And, if it becomes common in housewares I will stick with Wayfair, so far all nice things came from there.

I don't blame them. I'm bias, because I love Birkenstock.

Kahan has the luxury of making this sort of move. For one, Birkenstock is privately held and doesn't have to answer to public investors more focused on profit growth than brand equity.

"...Amazon commingles inventory from distributors at its fulfillment centers, so authentic products and fakes can get mixed together."
