Perhaps this has happened to you--it's happened to me twice now. Buyer buys an item and minutes later wants me to cancel the sale as it was a mistake for some reason. Tradesy lets you do this with a drop down menu that, a la eBay, lets you choose the reason (out of stock, buyer request, etc). Both times I've chosen the applicable reason "Buyer Request" and both times it resulted in them sending me this threatening form letter:
"Thank you for letting us know that you could not fulfill this order. Your quick response saves your buyer and Team Tradesy tons of time! Please keep in mind: if you cancel orders too often, your listings may be temporarily deactivated."
WTF???!!! They also sent the "buyer" a sad little note informing her that the sale was cancelled and reassuring her that this doesn't happened often on Tradesy (again as if it were my fault). She was so appalled, she wrote to Tradesy to inform them that it was her idea and I was nice enough to get her out of a jam and cancel. (Apparently she's a sensitized eBay buyer and worried about consequences for me. How strange is that?)
Anyway, I wrote Tradesy a scathing email (they promise to have CS get back to me) that I shouldn't be punished for accommodating a buyer and that I'm more disappointed than they are when a buyer wants to cancel.
But head's up. If it happens to you, read the email they send you after and smack them for it, if necessary. I can't imagine going dark over there when sales are so hard to get right now.

I give them a year, max, before they close. Especially if they keep this stuff up and keep slamming sellers.

I have probably canceled as many orders because I didn't have it, that I've sold and never received that email.
Wow bully twerps that threaten their sellers! It must be run by a bunch of middle school kids!
Thanks for the warning. I hope they apologize to you or at least they get their mom to call you and apologize.π

They need to fix their coding - they've got it set up to send the 'sorry' letter instead of the 'thank you for accommodating your buyer' letter. That's really stupid. I'm glad you had a wonderful almost-buyer, though, who came to bat for you!

When I first put stuff over there I got a lot of "loves" and "followers". But in the last month, those numbers never changed and I've only sold 1 thing. I don't think my items are "designer" enough for them anymore.

I had a month's long dry spell there and very recently things seemed to perk up. I hope that happens for you too.

Well now, I just received this email from Tradesy:
Kyara Paul Kyara Paul (Tradesy) Jul 5, 8:16 AM PDT
Hi ,
We love hearing feedback about your experience using Tradesy, it helps us make changes to the site - both big and small - in our pursuit to build the best peer-to-peer marketplace out there!
If there's anything else you'd like to share or suggest, feel free to reach out at any time. Weβre always happy to hear from you! Thank you, Kayla
And this was my email back to them:
Oh, hi, Kyara. This feels like a form letter from a bot. Is it a form letter response from a bot? Sincerely, Not a bot

Update: Mackenzie wrote back to me. So it's a no-bot situation. But still, she said not to worry about it, rather than "don't worry, we're changing it."

I'm beginning to think Tradesy CSRs are even more clueless than eBay CSRs They don't seem to understand the concepts of nuance and perception.

Mackenzie wrote back to me a second time (because I had expressed my fears of being automatically put in the bad corner due to their software again). She seems sincere that she will express my suggestion to omit "Buyer Requested" from the threatening email list and ensure we aren't punished to the team. I think she will and hope they act on it.

It's an auto reply - a simple programming change is all takes. It's not rocket science.

Think maybe they hired former eBay tech employees?
