I have a t shirt and ball cap listed with free shipping. If I ship it priority in a box it will kill any profit but will if that's the only way to ship. Is there anyway to ship it first class without it damaging the ball cap? I was thinking if kept the ball cap folded (like they are in the store with the back pushed in and put the shirt in the pushed in back to support it, then bubble wrapped it and slipped it in a bubble envelope it would be ok but DH said it would get too squished being shipped like that.
Anyone know? From the prices I see it looks like other sellers are sending hats first class so I assume they are just putting them in envelopes and sending them. Am I being too paranoid? Anyone gotten a cap in the mail? If so how was it shipped?

Lightweight box + Tee + hat probably can go 1st class if they are both light items. It is up to 16oz now. What are your weights?

I just ship them in a box first class, they're usually light enough. I've never shipped one in an envelope, tho' I don't sell them on a regular basis.

With no packaging I'm at 8.5oz (kids shirt). I don't have any boxes here that it will fit in so I'd have to buy a box, no stores around that have free boxes out. Dollar tree may have some that would fit it, not sure what sizes they sell but they have one or 2 shipping boxes in their packing supplies. Don't know how much weight that would add.

Walmart has boxes for under $1. 6" x 6" x 6" for about .68 cents. I just weighed a box your hat and tee would easily fit in and it is 4 oz. I think you will easily be able to ship first class in a box.
Whatever store you have close by should have boxes you could use. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

The dollar stores often have boxes in the back that they unpack stuff out of that they will give you. Small-ish ones too.

Thanks dollar tree is right by WM here so I will hit both places for boxes, see what I can come up with. I might use my Ebay coupon on July 1st to order 50 of the Ebay boxes in 6" size, I can get 50 of them and just pay the $5 or so difference after the coupon if that won't make stuff to heavy, I know adult shirts would probably weigh in around 11oz with a hat so they may squeak under the cut off if their boxes aren't too heavy or it's not too heavy of a shirt.

Peek, sometimes when I'm just over the cut-off point from one rate to another, I will trim some of the cardboard off of the flaps of the box. This has saved me numerous times. Good luck with your box hunt!

I went to WM and dollar tree, I tried some hats in the 6X6X6 at WM and they were a tight squeeze, had to put it in angled and the brim was tight against the sides and that was the youth hat so decided that was too small of a box. Went with a 8X11-3/4X4-3/4 I think is what the other size was for .10 more. Then over at the dollar tree they had an 8X10X6 which is a better size. I haven't weighed it yet with the hat and shirt but that size fits much better so even though it's higher than at WM I think I'll go with that size. Thanks for the help.
