And decided that Dante was his new best friend.
He wanted to check out underneath my hotdog cart.
And crawl all over my DH

He played with my zipper. I think he was trying to find the food in my pocket.

Wanted to go inside our fifth wheel. That was a big no.

My DH would be dying if he saw those pictures, lol. Not because he would think the raccoon was cute, (because it is!), but because we we've had to trap so many of them that lived in & destroyed the detached garage we had, (before we renovated it into living quarters). In the course of 18 months, we trapped 16 raccoons. And as much as they were adorable, they were mean as heck.
They are curious and very dexterous. I'm SURE he/she was looking for food in your pocket! Just be careful, though, I've heard that when a raccoon comes out in the daytime, it's because it's sick. But still adorable!

Flyer is up to date. This little guy didn't come from our area. Someone we know brought him over to visit. He's now long gone and will end up in rehab. He's still a little guy and VERY destructive. His cuteness can win someone over for only so long.

Wow I can't believe it was so friendly. The raccoons around here are nasty. I swear I saw one of our raccoons leaning against a tree, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, eye patch on and he was sharpening his claws!

I've never cared for raccoons since the mid 80s when DH and I went to the Alleghenies and hiked in about 4 miles to the reservoir to camp. Found a perfect spot right by the water with a picnic table. Normally, he'd string up food, but decided since nothing was opened, he left it in a stuff sack and put it in his backpack and laid that on the table for the night. We had a leftover potato wrapped in foil that we put in the fire before bed.
We were in the tent in our sleeping bags and heard something outside. First thought is, "Oh no, a bear", but when DH carefully took a peek outside and there was the most obese raccoon we've ever seen trying to get the potato out of the fire. We yelled and scared it off and went to sleep.
Got up the next morning to find the fat bastard had carefully unzipped DH's backpack, put 2 tiny puncture marks in the stuff sack to squeeze the shock cord to open the drawstring and left barely a scrap of plastic in the clearing behind us and not a trace of the crackers, cheese or salami. No wonder it was so obese. It must have had a lot of practice stealing food to do it so neatly.
All I had in my backpack, that was in the tent, was a couple packets of hot chocolate mix and a few small pieces of beef jerky. It was a looooonnnggg and silent walk back to the car and then an even longer drive to find something open Sunday to get something to eat.

I don't live in raccoon country so I don't have any experience with them gosh he's a cutie!! I always laugh when I see the Sears Optical commercial with the lady leading a raccoon into her house because she thinks it's her cat... lol

Good joke, Dantes. I really thought you had a stray raccoon at the trailer and I was worried if it bit you or flyer. Bravo!

I didn't know this little raccoon was stopping by our place. DH surprised me.
We do get raccoons. Not the smoking, nail sharpening ones that Jelly gets.

We had a raccoon in our dumpster at work today. It is nearly empty so we put a board in there for him to hopefully climb out on. He's cute but I hope he's gone tomorrow. He's been raiding the smaller trash cans around the site so I hope he's grateful we helped him and stops.

Oh I just love raccoons. We used to get mommas and their babies come through but not so much any more :-( They knew my place was a safe haven and never bothered the cats. I think the cats just thought they were giant mutant tabbies or something.
darn.....can't seem to post pics
