Okay, so I've taken the Etsy plunge as I have a ton of vintage clothing to sell. I feel like a total idiot, as I can't figure out how to charge correct amounts for shipping.
I get how to set first class or flat rate priority for domestic as those are fixed amounts regardless of distance. But how do I set for international, or non-flat rate domestic? Do I just guess? Only ship flat rate?
I'm so confused. I'm sure it's totally easy, but I guess Ebay has sucked up all my brain cells.
Thanks for any help!

I'm fairly new there, too and have scoured the information to try to find what you're asking, but it looks like it's all set cost shipping. I can't find anything about how to set up calculated shipping. PS - Where is your Etsy store link? Have I added you to my favorite stores?

I just listed some stuff over there last night and I can't find anything to set calculated shipping either. So I just set a flat rate on everything where I know I won't short myself on the shipping charges, but not so high as to drive buyers to the back button.

PS - Where is your Etsy store link? Have I added you to my favorite stores? I just added my store link to my signature - please like it, and I'll like yours. I only have one item up so far, but that will change soon.

I'm having trouble with it too - I have a potential international buyer, does Etsy shipping offer any discounts to sellers? I know what it costs here on Ebay, so I'm just quoting her that I guess. Is there an easy way to insure the package within, or do I have to use an outside site like U-Pic?

Currently, Etsy doesn't allow calculated shipping, but you can create different "Shipping Profiles". You could have one that's: - $0.00 for Priority in the US - $10 for Int'l FC to Canada - $15 for Int'l FC to Australia and Europe And another that's: - $10 for US Priority - $20 for Int'l FC to Canada - $30 for Int'l FC to Australia and Europe (And so on.) Use the first profile for small/lightweight items, the second for items 1-3 pounds, and so on. One thing I really like about Etsy is that buyers rarely complain about shipping prices. Sometimes I'll get a convo from someone asking if I can lower the shipping, or if I'll take a lower offer on something, but those have almost always been pleasant requests that resulted in good sales. I've had over 100 sales and never had anyone complain or leave negative feedback ETA: Etsy is working on calculated shipping; they announced it in September but there hasn't been any news since then. www.etsy.com/teams/7722/discussions/discuss/15249199/

So just had my first sale on Etsy to a buyer in Poland. I do not have the option to print a shipping label through Etsy, my only option is to "Mark as Shipped", does anyone know why this is the case? I know I can buy postage through Paypal or whatever, but I would like to go through Etsy for the discount. I'm paid up on my fees.

Go to your Sold Orders and click on the sold item, there should be a "Print Shipping Label" option there. www.etsy.com/shipping#faq

Yeah there wasn't that button available. I put a topic in the bug forums but it never got resolved in time so I just purchased the label through USPS.com.
