I'm glad you rescued the mouse!
Ours just kill the mice, rats, whatever. I've never seen them play with any of their kills - it's just break its neck and bring it over to us, then go look for the next one. I'm glad because I couldn't stand seeing that. We need them to be good ratters, though, because there's such a problem here, and they really earn their keep.
The bottle caps, though - I think they like the skittering, rattling bashing noise it makes as it ricochets off the table and chairs, bounces in the lino and snaps off the walls that really gets them going - you can hear them batting those things around, then a kitchen chair jolts, then a bashing noise and a lot of galloping, then something else crashes - then they start on each other. Once LB came running into the library with Cassie the tux on her back. I have no idea how that happened, but it looked ridiculous.

My little Flyer is pouting because I won't let him play with the toy. haha
