How do you feel about grouping items?
I normally sell each item separately, however, when you have many items that do not sell after some time (even on MM) have you ever tried say a lot of 3 tops or 2 pair of pants, etc? Of course, same size or same basic measurement range would apply. I am considering grouping lots of 2-3 items to clear out some items that have sat a while.
If you have tried this, did you feel the results were worth your efforts?

I have never tried it because the things I would probably put together would not be things that the same person would buy.

That sort of what I was worried about. I figured if I could do 2 button up shirts or 2 knee length skirts - seems a little limiting, but I am looking to clear out some things that have sat a while.

I have done it but more with children's clothes. Most of the time you will get a lower price per item than if you sold them separately. However, every once in awhile depending on what's in the lot they can draw alot of bids and end for a nice price.
Maybe try one and see how it does.

As a buyer I would be more apt to buy a lot of 2/3/4 etc shirts or 2/3/4 pairs of jeans or skirts because I am build weird and generally what sellers put together don't even begin to be the right size combination. But if the shirts or pants have essentially the same measurements or are the same size I will give it a try and figure if 2 or 3 of the lot fit I am in good shape.

I've tried it a few times when i really had a lot of low interest turds from a consignment client. it's true you make less but sometimes it helps to clear things out. I grouped same size and type (tops). Good luck!

The only lots I've done are when they're the exact same item, except different colors. I haven't looked that hard, but it seems like all the lots I come across during research go for abysmal prices, but they do appear to be from closet cleaners.

There was someone on the CAB that was doing lots, and was having success. I can't remember her name, but I think she had the Audrey Hepburn poster in the background of her pictures.
I wish I could remember. She quit posting after a while, not sure if she ever came back?

I used to do lots of plus size clothes, typically 6 pieces; 2 tops and 4 bottoms. Did well for years, but inventory source price went WAY up, plus $ went down over the years considerably as well. Shipping can be prohibitive, especially if it's larger sizes and winter clothes. I've done it to clear out inventory before, maybe 6-8 pieces of the same size, did so-so.

I've done it in the past for children's clothes and did one very large lot to clear out some nwt skating/dance separates that just weren't moving. They went to a seller who has made some money but is still trying to get rid of them. I didn't make much on the lots.

But if the shirts or pants have essentially the same measurements or are the same size I will give it a try and figure if 2 or 3 of the lot fit I am in good shape. I have to agree with alli on keeping lots of like items and not mixing em up too much. I do lots. Well when I'm actually listing I do lots lol. Some are items I find with defects after I get them home...sigh or just harley shirts that honestly wouldn't be worth listing as a single item. Some are things I personally feel I've listed too many times. I have done lots of harley shirts, lots of shorts, lots of jeans, lots of watches, books and a couple lots of sweaters. I DO NOT put hardly any effort into lots. I take 2 pictures one of the fronts and one of the backs and that is it. I keep my lots of the same items. I will lot up say long sleeve, short sleeve, even tanks but again all in the same size. If the lot is listed because it's all just meh stuff I start out with the disclaimer something like this. I have a lot of 10 harley shirts. While none of them could be considered sunday best they are still good shirts. Please see item descriptions below. Shirts ( or shorts or whatever type lot your selling) are described from left to right and top to bottom. I also say something like this....all shirts tagged medium with shoulder measurements running from 17-18. On shorts or jeans I'll do the same thing...all shorts tagged medium with a waist size of 29-30". Jeans will go the same but I add an inseam so it would look like all jeans have size noted in description but the waists go from 29-30 with inseams from 35-36. Or whatever you would have. I then give a quick one line description of each shirt or whatever and note if there are any flaws, stains, washwear or whatever. I always auction lots off. I try to start the auction where I'll get around 3.00 for each item and then tack on the shipping charges so I can do free shipping and list it with standard. I mark standard as the way it will be shipped but actually figure my shipping costs using either the Large FR box knowing I can 99% of the time send the lot in a RRB box and save a couple bucks. I do standard for several reasons and one of them is that it is rare when someone only buys one lot from me. Then I just send it parcel and pocket a couple extra dollars. I do mention in my lot listings that the breakdown is XX amount and that includes the shipping. Probably not needed but I do want people to realize it IS a good deal to buy these lots lol. On harley shirts I am always amazed at how high the bidding goes. I could not sell these shirts singly for near the amounts they go for in lots. Shorts, jeans ect usually get some bids and do make it worth my while.

I used to do clothing lots 5 or 6 years ago. I'd make up outfits with accessories. Usually 4 or 5 mix and match outfits. Career lots seemed to better than casual (unless there were a lot of jeans). Plus size lots did very well.
It was so much work though. Trying to coordinate sizes and styles and many, many pics. Ugh, I won't do it again. I would throw a few pieces together and a take a few pics. Maybe some lower end career brands blouses or something.
I've seen some do well with junior brand casual wear. Aero, American Eagle , Hollister graphic tees and lounge wear. Very few pics and minimal description. I haven't checked what the market is in awhile, so I'm sure it's changed.

I agree, it's SO much work!! And you end up with random pieces that don't work with anything else you have. And way too many pics! When my daughter was younger we'd do HUGE junior type lots, like 35-45 pcs. Back when you could pay $19.95 to be featured, did quite well for several years, then not so much. I would still do it for inventory clearance, but several pieces and minimal pics.
