And for me the 'hate' leans to ebay much more than google in this situation.

Why is that? Google is the one being greedy and demanding pay for just about everything now. Other marketplaces are being hit too. Now I understand why so many places have an app and want me to use it. Cheaper for them than Google. I won't be surprised if two of my fave retailers come out with shopping apps for their sites this year.

They're 'job' is to be search engine that makes their money off advertising on search results. How else could they afford to offer a massive and superfast search engine, nevermind stuff like picasa and gmail and calendar and maps and any of the bazillion other things? And they all fricking WORK and work GREAT too. Always.
What's ebay's 'job'? The frickin website doesn't even work right nevermind the pitiful cantseeme nosearch engine. They got caught cheating google so google smacked 'em. Now they pay for 'search results' on bing but won't pay google? I didn't even know bing still existed.
So we pay ebay - for what? Advertising? Ya mean all the advertising ebay puts on each of our listings that they're making MORE money off?
What do you pay google? Individuals who pay google for search stuff do show up in their 'shopping' stuff. organic search doesn't any more. google's not in business to donate to ebay who vastly overpays their management and gives golden parachutes to idjits.
How can etsy pay google yet get only 3.5% while ebay's rips 10%?
I lean so much I may fall over...

Bonanza's asking for $ to advertise listings in google shopping (and other search engine & shopping referral sites) too. Etsy is supposedly losing money each quarter tho I don't follow financials like I probably should. Don't get me wrong- I'm not defending either eBay or Google. I'm totally against manipulated search and that's what each corporation is serving up to their users. Eventually google will over-step a law and get slapped down like Microsoft did. Ebay side-stepped that with their boiler-plate TOS agreement we "sign" each time we log in.
