My oldest daughter has to close the door of her bedroom at night because Pepper goes in there and knocks stuff off her dresser. Usually it isnt a problem, except last night! Pepper decided she wanted in that room! In the middle of the night, she was jumping and throwing herself against the door to get it open. Emma got up and chased her off downstairs, then Pepper proceeded to chase Emma back up the stairs.
Mark finally told Emma to come and sleep in our room in hopes that Pepper would just lay down with her. Nope! Pepper went off to sleep somewhere else.
My poor girl is tired today.....

Who knows what motivates cats sometimes? I hope it was an isolated incident.

One of the reasons why we love Pepper is because of her personality. This is just one way of her showing it! When she was 1 week old kitten and still living in my mothers garage, she would hide from anyone who went in there EXCEPT Emma. Even now almost 2 years later, she is bonded with Emma and me.
We are going to move things in her room so Pepper cant knock them off so she can sleep in there with her with no problem.

Has you and your daughter's schedule changed recently? Hootie, who is the most laid back cat ever, was acting up last week. I have an erratic schedule anyway, but last week I wasn't sitting down with him daily for some attention. Usually I do, either when I get home for a few minutes, later in the evening to watch TV, or read before going to sleep. I hadn't done any of that last week. Paid attention over the weekend, made sure he had some Me+Hootie Time, and he's back to Mr Laidback and Cool.

She came in and knocked my cup of water all over my sewing table. This is just her. Though I have never seen her throw herself at a door before. LOL

I read somewhere that each cat needs 40 minutes of quality time each day. With four cats I can't manage that so they get their session every second day. And mostly they want twenty minutes twice. Or ten minutes four times.

Well she gets a lot more attention than the other do since she has a bed all to herself in my sewing room. In fact, she is laying here next to me now and I reach over and pet her often.

You're so lucky, just like Val is with Hootie. I've always wanted Bubby to sit quietly on my computer desk but she finds it impossible not to climb on me. So she ends up feeling rejected and I end up feeling guilty. It's my fault because when she was tiny I did hold her and type with one hand. She used to actually fall asleep and snore and have little dreams. But then she got too heavy.

Cats always want to be where they are not allowed. Open the door and let them in and they have no interest.

Pepper would not have no interest. That cat.... One of her favorite things to do is to sit on a shelf, look right at me and knock things off. LOL
I love her.

She and Daisy would be a pair. Daisy will jump on the kitchen counter when she knows I am watching and not jump down until I am half way into the kitchen. Then it is flee at warp speed laughing all the way.

Lila (my Russian Blue) likes to sit on the dining room table when no one's around. She knows she's not allowed up there, but we keep catching her in the act. She just gives us an "Oh, did you want to use the table now? Well then, I'll just be on my way" look and hops down.
Does Pepper have enough high places to explore and hide? Maybe that's why she's so eager to get on the dresser and shelves.

Her favorite place to walk is along the balcony in the loft. Scares the crap out of me all the time! My inventory is up there and piled against the railings and she walks the outside of the railings, the top of the railings and the outside of the railings.
Part f her problem is that she wants to badly to play with the other cats and they are old and not interested. She even will lay down close to them in hopes they will invite her for a cuddle, which they never do.

Sounds like she needs a kitten! Or Daisy. They can be partners in crime together.

Mup, I hear Kritter delivers kittens and it would be a good excuse for her to take one in knowing it would go to great home, lol.

It won't take Kritter very long, either, to find you the perfect kittnen, mup. Kritter raises great kittens.
Wait. Didn't shirley just take in a momkat? She might have kittens!

I don't have a Momkat, just an adorable abandoned kitten. Still on the bottle but now starting to eat mush food. Little tabby girl, cute and frisky. Jumped in the dish tonight and had to have a bath because she got covered in food and even had it in her ears.

Bet you could especially if it's another black cat. They all look alike But gray tabbies are awfully cute.... I should know, I have one.

It would be an expensive kitten. It would cost me 1 husband.... There are lots of days where I'd happily trade my husband for a kitten. Or a senior cat. Or a handful of magic beans. Shirley, where are the photos of your adorable nameless kitten?

Mup, I think the black kitten is a good idea. Or, like, a one year old might be best - young enough to play and be trained by Pepper, but big so your DH won't notice the size difference. As long as he never sees them together he'll never know...and even then, if it's kind of shadowy he might just think Pepper's getting fat.
But I warn you, you might end up with BOTH of them on that upstairs railing. I have one, painted with slippery gloss paint, and mine used to SAMBA along it, while talking to me and batting at each other. I swear that's when my hair went grey. I actually googled how far a cat can fall without killing itself.
