Funny observation...the eBay store that is selling their boxes and polymailers has a FB of 12. I just read through them all (yes, all 12), and one is more glowing than the next. How hard would it be for eBay to manipulate the feedback remarks to make them look like the greatest seller on earth - well, that was my first thought anyway, lol.
They would just do like they do for their big box sellers - if there are too many negs just remove them and put that feedback back to 100% every quarter instead of once a year.
I bet they will make all the employees that sell on ebay buy the supplies right away (for free) to get that feedback built up. Or just make-up fake positive feedback.

Did everyone see what is on the poly and air bags?
Put this bag to good use: Start selling on ebay www.ebay.com
Nothing about go look on ebay to PURCHASE more items you may need or Find the item you've been looking for, etc.
Such good advertising for us - more seller competition that we don't need. Put the idea in the buyers mind, hey, I can do this.
Figures! THIS! This right here! I saw that too and was like WTF? Honestly, having the logo on there does t bother me so much as that statement. If they changed it to : EBay: get more of what you want today Or EBay: Order more of what you love What does starting to sell on eBay have to do with putting the envelope to good use? I actually laughed because it sounds so stupid.
Yes, it's a stupid phrase on those bags. If it was just the logo it would not be that bad. Seriously, do any of you think you could salvage a poly bag or a padded flat rate envelope once you received it to re-use it? They are so hard to open that they have to be cut along the top or puncture your finger into the middle of the poly and rip it apart. Then you would need to get the shipping label pulled off and if it's taped on, forget it.
Who in their right mind would take a damaged bag and resend it to someone that you are selling something to? Maybe you could recycle a poly and cut it down in size and fold it over and tape it for a return, but that would be about it. Boxes are a different story as they are easily recycled.
They are trying to put the idea in the buyers head that they can maybe do this .......... 'get some old clothes that don't fit anymore and maybe I can sell them too'.
ebay needs to get the message that it's the WRONG message on those bags. They should go back to their old slogan.....FIND IT ON EBAY.....and elaborate on that.

I won't quote Liz's entire post so this isn't so long but I agree wholeheartedly. Ebay needs more buyers.
I think they really need to try to appeal to the slightly younger 20something crowd as well. Out of all my coworkers (all 30 and under) I am the only one who shops on Ebay. Do they shop online? Yes. Ebay? No. One girl did order a bottle of discontinued perfume she wanted but didn't really understand what Ebay was without walking her through it. Ebay is just not on a lot of people's radar it seems.
In the past few months however I have ordered: a pair of flats, 2 pillow covers, a pair of sandals (that I found on Ebay much cheaper than on Modcloth though they are the same exact shoe), a bottle of tea tree oil, replacement bulb for my Maglite flashlight, a ladle shaped like the loch ness monster, a soap dish, and an HDMI cable. That sort of variety is the very thing they should advertise. There are all sorts of goods for sale on Ebay and they need to promote the heck out of that!

Hell, there are a lot of people my age (over 40) that didn't even realize people still use eBay. I told someone about selling on eBay last week and he said "People still buy on eBay? I thought everyone bought on Amazon".
Not that he speaks for everyone, but that mentality is out there!

Yes, my sister says she doesn't know anyone who buys on eBay anymore. Amazon is it. That doesn't mean eBay should become Amazon. EBay needs to think. They are unique and that's what they need to promote. Advertise! To get BUYERS.

Heck, I don't know anybody that buys on Ebay now.
My niece (40 years old with husband and 3 kids under 10) and both her professional and personal friends all buy on Amazon and sell on their Nextdoor Neighbor sites.

This is brilliant! I don't understand eBay's constantly stumping for yet MORE sellers - I suspect they figure 'if we have sellers, the buyers will come' except the buyers won't if they don't know about it.
Also eBay needs to be advertising their high number of TRS and TRS+ sellers meeting high standards instead of constantly reassuring buyers that they won't get ripped off. I've NEVER heard of a company so adversarial towards its sales staff. Never. No one cares about eBay integrity, it's SELLER integrity that matters - advertise that with the MBG only as a fall-back.
At least they got rid of that stupid kindergarten shield symbol.

It's true, my only complaint about eBay's advertising is that they seem to be pushing the selling rather than the buying. It seems to me that if sellers are paying for the supplies and are paying eBay for advertise their wares, the very least they could do is push someone to buy them.
Amazon's logo and name is all over everything they ship but there is no push for you to sell anything.

But it does take a lot of patience for someone to sell on eBay successfully. I know a lot of people who have tried and failed. Hopefully they will give up and buy instead.
Amazon is so restrictive, AFA clothing anyway. I find it too intimidating to try to sell there. And few of my items have UPC's anyway.

Sigh. I just came from another forum that I belong to (non ebay related) but they were discussing online buying. Most of the people were older. They ALL buy on Amazon. Just a few buy on ebay. Most don't even think of ebay, it never occurs to them. They've forgotten that ebay ever existed. How on earth can we convince ebay that they need BUYERS? Someone in that forum did say that ebay makes its money off sellers. Maybe it's the seller fees, store fees, but they wouldn't have to keep recruiting new sellers if they got more buyers. The good sellers would stay if there were buyers.
From a person who had ONE measley sale over the entire weekend! Why do I bother.

My eBay box order came today (I got two sizes that I would have to purchase and which I use a fair amount). The weight and strength of the box is fine - it's just a bit lighter than the #7 large priority box, and heavier than the shoe box, shirt box and A boxes. I ship box-fulls of stuff, sometimes heavy, and wouldn't have qualms about using them.
I fully intend to use them for Etsy as well - I have a bunch of old odds and ends of shipping labels I can slap over the eBay logo.
For eBay sales, I'm leaving the eBay logo but sharpie'd over the rest of it with "Buy What You Love" and "Find It on EBay". I'm actually going to design some stickers to slap over that ridiculousness.
I do have friends who buy on eBay - quite a few of them, but they're always looking for old, weird stuff.

I'm honestly going to be rolling in poly mailers for awhile. I've got 300 now (between 3 stores) and those are going to last me until a couple months after I get the next coupon. LOL
