No thanks, I don't want their logo on my packages. Heck I even cut the part that says ebay off my shipping labels.
And if something is big/heavy enough to need a box I use the FREE ones from the PO.

I should start selling boxes from my cardboard hoard.
I could write Ebay on them with colored Sharpies which I also seem to hoard.

Store subscribers get some sort of credit towards these supplies with the rate change. I'll use them. I don't know what the big deal is about having eBay on them. A package is a package.

I don't care what is on them but I don't plan to buy boxes when USPS will give them to me for free. Anything that I have that would go in one of those boxes would be way more than First Class postage so why not just use the USPS Priority boxes. I must be missing something here.

That's what I don't get - why would anyone pay for the boxes or the padded envelopes when USPS is free?
And I do the same - I cut paypal off the top of my shipping labels and when EBay used to put their logo on the bottom, I used to cut that off too.

I saw on another board that one poster was saying it was good to use the boxes to get the ebay name out there as a sort of publicity for ebay.
That makes me wonder who they think is going to see this "publicity". The box goes to the post office so the postal employees see an ebay box and then the box goes to the buyer who is already buying on ebay.
Maybe a commercial might be a better way to get publicity to a wider audience.
I must be missing something.

Don't forget the people standing in line at the PO while you breeze past with your prepaid package - further proof that eBay sellers are scammers and postage should be free because we're not standing in line like they are to pay for it.

I, of course, understand about the costs and them being free from the PO. I don't understand why anyone cuts off the eBay or PayPal info from labels. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it or anything. Just didn't understand the mindset of not wanting the info on there.
And, yeah, the advertising is kind of ridiculous, since it's pretty much only seen by the buyer, seller and post office people LOL

There were some stories a while ago about some postal workers mistreating packages with ebay labels because we didn't have to pay retail postage prices.

Also theft. It also has been said that if a package is missing and it's from an ebay seller that a lot of people including postal workers know ebay will refund the buyer for the package, so no problem if it goes missing.
It was suggested so many times on so many boards/threads to cut off the paypal and ebay logos on your ebay packages.

Ah, yes, I forgot about those people that are on the verge of telling me to get my ass in line about the same time the post office guy tells me to plop my packages right down on the next counter.
I don't cut anything about Paypal or Ebay off the labels. I don't have time for that.
I don't think the majority of postal workers care how much we pay for postage and they are gonna steal what they are gonna steal and don't care if anybody gets reimbursed for it.
Thieves usually do not have a conscience in regard to the people they are stealing from.
I think any post office issued box that comes through with prepaid postage on it is a pretty good clue that the package is an ebay package no matter whether the label is cut or not. How many everyday people use PFRE or RR boxes with prepaid postage?
But, keep cutting the Paypal and ebay names off the labels because some new postal worker/thief might be fooled into thinking it is not worth stealing because it is not an ebay package.

Bleh and bleh on the eBay rumors. I don't believe them....I believe in UFOs and the Loch Ness Monster tho LOL I guess that makes sense tho. Thanks for the info. ETA: I am just kidding. I never knew exact reasoning behind it, so I have been enlightened

As a basic store subscriber, I'll get $25 in Ebay shipping supply credit. They will be my new poly mailer supplier. There might also be some Ebay box sizes that'll work out better for me.
Since Ebay is the place where I'm selling my stuff, I'm happy to advertise them.

I see they have certain size boxes that I sometimes need but don't want to pay PM shipping for it.

Did everyone see what is on the poly and air bags?
Put this bag to good use: Start selling on ebay www.ebay.com
Nothing about go look on ebay to PURCHASE more items you may need or Find the item you've been looking for, etc.
Such good advertising for us - more seller competition that we don't need. Put the idea in the buyers mind, hey, I can do this.
Figures!

It's nice they're gonna give a credit for free shipping supplies but it makes me wonder why? Ebay doesn't do anything that doesn't make them money in the end. A while back wasn't the postmaster general making noise about not providing free packing materials because they get misused? Wonder if they are thinking seriously about discontinuing them? In that case would make sense that eBay would step in the fill the void... at a profit of course.

I doubt USPS is going to discontinue their free supplies but even if they were, I doubt that USPS is discussing their box plans with Ebay far enough in advance for Ebay to have put their box plan together.
I think this is just something that Ebay pulled out of their butt instead of working on things that really matter.

My guess is that it's for advertising. Amazon has its name slapped all over their packages, so Ebay's trying to do the same.

I see it as a way for eBay to get tax credits for advertising. And they need something to offer to us anchor store sellers to make up for the huge increase.
win win for eBay.
I like the box sizes, too. Sometimes the USPS boxes just aren't the reight size when packing misc stuff.
I am resigned to stick with my anchor store so will have to bite the bullet and accept it.

The funniest thing - I still have a batch of #4 co-branded ebay/USPS boxes that I never used. Should I auction them? They're priority only but have nice ebay and USPS logos in red/white/blue on 'em.
I cut off any reference to ebay on exterior labels/whatever. I would do the same thing if I were shipping stuff under any brand name. It's kinda like buying insurance at the post office so now you have that nice big insured all over it alerting the thieves. Let 'em think it's granny's cookies in the box.

I'll use the free allotment of Ebay branded polymailers. I mean, if we get a coupon for them & they're free - why not? I'll use my coupon each quarter & get some. They are not competitively priced enough for me to pay for them though.
I do wish the slogans they put on their stuff (labels, shipping supplies, etc.) didn't encourage sellers though. Maybe something more along the lines of "Find it on Ebay" or "Buy on Ebay Pretty Pretty Please" or something encouraging BUYING. Listings have increased over & over through the years - we need more buyers, not sellers.

Since Ebay is the place where I'm selling my stuff, I'm happy to advertise them. I too will take advantage of the poly mailers, since I pay for them out-of-pocket, unlike the PM boxes I get at the post office. Yeah, they have the eBay logo on them, and I'm not crazy about that, but I'll take and use them for free. I do cut off the Ebay logo on my mailing labels. Since I use plain paper and have to cut them anyway, it doesn't take me any extra time to do this. I do it for several reasons, one of which is something that I read about 5 years ago. Seems a buyer was pizzed that her package had the eBay logo on the label because she wanted to be discreet about the purchase. She said something to the effect of 'thanks for advertising the fact that I bought something on eBay - so much for discretion'. And she negged the seller*. Now if I use the eBay logo polymailers, I guess I won't have to bother cutting off the eBay logo on the labels anymore huh, lol. ETA: * I know that if, as a seller, I get negged for something like the ebay logo on the label, eBay would most likely rule in my favor and remove the neg - but who wants to be bothered with having to contact eBay for that?

Another reason.....By cutting off the ebay logo on the shipping label we also save about an inch of tape!
Times that by so many packages per year and you've saved yourself a roll of tape - LOL!!

On the Priority packages, we could put the USPS Priority sticker over the eBay logo...maybe.

Funny observation...the eBay store that is selling their boxes and polymailers has a FB of 12. I just read through them all (yes, all 12), and one is more glowing than the next. How hard would it be for eBay to manipulate the feedback remarks to make them look like the greatest seller on earth - well, that was my first thought anyway, lol.

They have some mailers that I'll get with the credit...100 for free is a pretty good price, considering the sizes they have.

Figures! THIS! This right here! I saw that too and was like WTF? Honestly, having the logo on there does t bother me so much as that statement. If they changed it to : EBay: get more of what you want today Or EBay: Order more of what you love What does starting to sell on eBay have to do with putting the envelope to good use? I actually laughed because it sounds so stupid.
