Meet our new kittehs! They are soooo sweet and silky soft. Right now they are a little shy of the new digs and hiding in one room because the place is huge compared to the little room they were in at the shelter. Great news is they are taking a fine liking to their new people. Angel loves belly rubs! Tony is more of a mellow cool cat, but he does enjoy being scratched under the chin. They are not showing much personality here probably because of the newness of the place. Angel Tony

Yeah! Congrats. Are they siblings? How old? They will warm up as they get comfortable with you and the space.

LOL Well, that didn't take long, did it? You picked two beautiful kittehs.
They are doing great for having just arrived unless there is nothing there to hide behind.
They just need time to realize they are safe. A lot of exploring will be done when nobody is around.

Fashion - the Humane society said they believed they might be siblings, but didn't know for certain. At first they were separated into different cages, but they did not do very well so they were put back together in a bigger kennel. They are both 9 years old and have been together their whole lives, so they really needed to stay together.
Kritter - For some reason they have decided to hide in the one room that isn't furnished. Must be a cat thing? Tony is hiding in the closet in his photo so I had to use the flash, which is why his eyes are closed. He doesn't mind if you join him in the closet for a few pets and some pics though. Angel spent much of the afternoon in a box next to the closet hiding, although she does come out to see us when we go into the room. She's nervous about the new place, but that's not going to stop her from getting her share of pets or belly rubs.
I think fashion is right, once they get comfortable they will be all over the place. I'm sure they will check the place out pretty good the next few nights. They have a couple of cat beds, toys blankets, a cat tree and some people furniture to check out so it should be exciting for them.
The adoption process at the Humane Society was much like I remembered. You are required to get them their rabies shot and to get them licensed through animal control. They asked a few questions about cat care, but nothing out of the ordinary. All that worry for nothing!

Yay for you, getting senior cats! And they're matching, but opposite. It's good you were able to get a pair, not two random strangers who might have hated each other.
How exciting! Lovely fur they've got, too.

They will be fine. All it takes is a little time or like Sabrina, a lot more time.
New people, new place, more freedom.
A lot for them to take in all at one time.

Kitteh update. Angel is coming out to visit us in the main room and brushing against our legs. She even looked up at me today a meowed a soft "pet me" meow. Tony on the other hand is hanging back in his closet although he did explore some of the other boxes DD put in the room with him for a while before returning to his spot in the closet.
I believe they must be exploring while we are gone because the water dish was lower and there was a big empty hole in the food dish this afternoon when we went to visit. It's good to think they are eating. I opened a can of wet food today. Angel dug in right away, I'm hoping Tony will get his share not that the place is quieter.

Thanks everyone. Both of them came out to see me while I was doing paperwork yesterday. Tony was purring away and Angel got comfortable on top of the cat tree. They are very sweet kitties. I have a 3rd Calico from my Mom who is staying with us. She is very old - like almost 20 and was being harassed by the puppy who couldn't understand why she didn't want to play. We decided the office would be a nice quiet place for her to live and she seems very happy sleeping in her little cat bed in the living room. I'll get some pics of her too. She's a bit ragged due to her age, even though I brush her daily.
I like older cats, they are more relaxed. I think they are the ones who are taking care of me more than me take care of them.
