Val, was just wondering if you ever listed it. I was thinking about my Presidents Day shopping trip on Monday and was trying to make rules for myself, then I thought what's the point, it will all go out the window once I'm in the store. Which brought my thoughts to the brown blazer. (Backstory: Val went shopping, telling herself nothing brown and no blazers. I think you can figure out what she came back with.)

In my defense, the blazer/jacket is brown with white polka dots. Stretch cotton. Susan Graver. A delightful addition to ones spring wardrobe. I was totally justified in buying it. It will probably get listed this week. I am placing limits on myself tomorrow too. Mainly money limits, though.

Lol I was hoping you'd say you listed it a long time ago and it sold overnight. It might make me feel more justified in blowing off my own rules. I'm not going tomorrow, but I am on Monday.

I really need to limit myself. I seem to limit myself fairly well in other, more expensive places but at the Savers sales I just seem to have a free-for-all mentality.

Unfortunately I'm stuck shopping local, I just couldn't swing a trip this weekend. Maybe in March. By then I'll need some true summer stuff so that will work. Tomorrow I'm mainly looking for bright color in tops, also some dresses and skirts. We're about to hit skirt season.
I'd love to find some florals but I'm not holding my breath. Oh, and some shoes for me would be cool (not that I need them, it would just be cool).

I'm trying the "If I'm not anxious to get home, get it ready and list it, put it back" approach.

I'm using the "I only have $x money, is it really that cute for that price?" approach.

I have no problems staying away from brown. Ugh.
But I do love a nice blazer.

Misspettigrew, I'd gone shopping last year and told myself, NO brown, NO blazers, you're only looking for xyz. Danged if I didn't find the cutest summer blazer in brown at my first store for the day. I'm standing there looking at it thinking, " No. You cannot buy it. It's brown." and the other voice is saying, " But, but, but, it has POLKA DOTS! How cute is that?". Argggghh. The polka dots (and the brand) won out. It would be really cute with white capris. And of course, today, the rule is …. NO brown. I am, however, giving myself a little more leeway on blazers…if they're summer ones. Ah, the games we sellers play with ourselves.

No brown? I sold a couple of dark chocolate brown items this month already, and have a few more to list. IF the dang SIY form ever decides to upload pics again... Back to work for now. BBL

I really need to limit myself. I seem to limit myself fairly well in other, more expensive places but at the Savers sales I just seem to have a free-for-all mentality. Yeah, that's me exactly. Just got back from Savers. I just can't seem to put back things that literally cost me $3/$4. It's like entertainment to me. Where else can I go and have a good time for a few hours for few bucks? But I did manage to put back 1/2 of my cart before I checked out. I have to limit myself on black clothing because I have a hard time photographing it. Which is a shame since that's the color I'm most drawn to (a NY thing maybe?...)

Black seems to be a Sydney thing, too. Plus it suits me. So hard to buy on ebay, though, because most people have trouble with photos and it's really hard to commit myself to a black blob with sleeves.
Val, there's one thing I'd buy in brown - a slinky (travel knit) long-sleeve top with a wide v neck. Dark brown or a glorious rusty colour. But everything I see is brooooown. It's a colour that actually depresses me if I wear it. Even with polka dots!

I actually like brown for myself. I like to pair it with ivory or tan.
I also like the 70's inspired prints but can't do ALL bright colors. So the brown helps to tone it down a bit.
ETA: zoe has one I've been watching for awhile. A 70's inspired top with a retro print. I love it, but I so don't need any more clothes.

I was good. I did not buy any brown. Heck, I didn't buy hardy anything at all I usually go out of town (8 stores!) for this particular sale, but I couldn't swing it so I shopped local (2 stores, bleh). Selection was poor and prices were high, even at half off. About a dozen tops, 4-5 skirts, a dress. From 2 stores. That's bad. I don't know if they really didn't have the inventory, they're holding it to put out tomorrow due to complaints from previous sales, sold a lot at the 30% off sale this past Monday, or what. Wait. I did buy a brown, cream and rust plaid tiered skirt. Sooooo cute for fall.

I didn't buy as much as usual today either. I planned to go to a Savers that is further away that I hadn't been to in awhile. But it was cold and rainy this morning, so I decided to go to the closer one - the one I went to on MLK Day.
I saw what I thought was a Maggie Barnes leather jacket - but I wasn't sure if it was real leather, so I didn't take it. There was no inner label. I wouldn't have really cared if it wasn't real, but I didn't want to have to list and say I didn't know. If it was imitation, it was a very good job of it.
But I didn't end up with a single woo-hoo. Just some decent B&B stuff.

I have no animosity towards brown….I just have too much of it right now in unlisted inventory (mostly fall stuff). So that's why I have banned brown purchases. I did find some nice gray stuff though.
