I listed an item with a shipping weight of 15 oz, no handling fee, not oversized, and I noticed it's showing as $6.45. What happened here?
ETA: I revised it to flat rate shipping. I don't want to make a buyer angry.

And I saw it when it was calculated for first class and was $4.43. Not after you changed it.

Sorry. I just wanted to know if anyone knew why the rates were so far off. Then I thought I should just change it to flat rate shipping. Sorry.

Well cwap, my 15oz item is showing at $6.45, but since I have handling, it's $8.40. I just changed these FROM PFRE's thinking the FC charge would be cheaper, but it's not.
I don't have time now, but I'll have to find one of those charts. I have no idea how much the 13-15.99 oz are supposed to cost, but I assumed since they were FC, they'd be cheaper than Priority. Maybe not.
Thanks for posting this Emerald, I never check what mine are showing at & this prompted me to look. I was in the middle of changing all of them, as they came up for relist. I guess the key will be if these numbers are correct or not. If they are, I guess I'll go back to PFRE.

I just kept my PFRE as they were, from what I was seeing it wasn't enough of a difference to switch them to FC and I have a handling fee. I sure don't see a big savings using the higher rates for FC. Especially for me because then I'll have to order more supplies where right now I am getting free ones from the PO. If a buyer would of purchased it at the flat rate price before they will now, they didn't go up that much.

When you print your label for that 15 oz package it will charge you $3.60 (if you're TRS). I don't know what it is for non-TRS. It gets so weird after 9 oz. I made up my own costs to use for same price to all that's in between what the P.O. charges and what ebay charges. So, the buyer is paying less than retail and I'm getting a little, too. I use the shipping calculator for 4-9 oz. 4oz is the lightest I ship.
Here's my chart: (I didn't know ebay would charge buyers for 14, 15 & 16oz. when I made my chart.)
First class
Oz Retail eBay My Flat Rate
1 2.54 2.60 2-3 2.60 2.60 4 2.74 2.60 5 2.94 2.60 6 3.14 2.60 7 3.34 2.60 8 3.54 2.60 9 3.74 3.30 10 3.97 3.35 3.84 11 4.14 3.40 3.89 12 4.34 3.45 3.94 13 4.54 3.50 3.99 14 3.55 4.19 15 3.60 4.24 16 3.65 4.29

I've been thinking about this, this is a HUGE problem! I think we should write Ina. Unless Emerald & I are missing something?
Can some of you who have done 14, 15 & 16 oz first class, please check & report your prices? LESS your handling charge!
I'm not disputing that the labels print correctly. The problem is no one is going to buy it with the shipping charge that high.
With my handling charge, my 15oz item was showing as $8.40! If they are showing to the buyer as $6.45 & should be $3.60, that's a huge problem but I dread the thought of calling Ebay & explaining it to some moron who can't speak English there.

I just sold a dress with 16 oz first class calculated rate. She paid $6.45 I had no idea or would have adjusted it lower.

The $3.60 is OUR cost at that weight rate. I don't have a handling charge, just use calculated shipping. But that is a super bonus to sellers! PPFRE at that rate puts the seller at a disadvantage money-wise if it's a low priced item. It is what it is...customers paying out the nose.

I DO USE calculate shipping!
Are you saying that our cost is $3.60 & the buyer pays $6.45? That doesn't sound right. I know the buyer pays a bit more, but not typically double.

57 Roses--I just clicked on your link and scrolled some of your listings. From what I can see, your higher weight first class (what you have listed as standard shipping) is showing as $4.54 to me in Colorado.

Zoe, yours is all over the place for me Some lighter weight items are showing $4.95 first class shipping to me, while other are showing $5.49 and $5.69. I'm just guessing that the lower price is the lower weight items. Weird, I'm like, what 5 miles from you if that?

57 roses--I thought first class only went thru 15 oz. 16 oz has to go via priority, correct?

It's based on weight & since I use calculated shipping, they will all be different. We're specifically talking about the 14, 15 & 16oz (15.9999) ones (the ones that until a few days ago, were Priority rates). I think the rest are fine.
For example, this one is a 15oz listing. This one below is showing as $8.40 to me, it's a 15oz listing.

OK. I was just wondering about the 15.99 vs 16 oz. I couldn't quite find the 15oz items. The one you linked IS showing $8.40 to me! Craziness. I just upped all of my FC items to $3.95 flat rate shipping, no matter what the weight. For now, it's working. I may increase my price, but we'll see. Yes, I just woke up. Laid in bed from 2-3:30 and said screw it. I'm getting up

With the stamps.com software, I put in 15.9 and it came out ok.
This is getting VERY VERY VERY old. Doesn't ebay DO anything? No planning? Nobody 'in charge' of stuff. No flow charts anywhere? Everything is a brand new exception so it's gonna be wrong for a while until someone wakes up to halfheartedly patch it? And then patches the patch that was just patched?

I did the same thing as zoe...I started changing stuff to fc 15 ounces + handling.
its a hot mess. YES 15 ounces charges the buyer $6.45 but we get discounted something ridiculous like almost $2.50. that's great and all, but from a buyers perspective its showing higher than PFRE. ive already had a bitch or two about high shipping.
i read somewhere that each ounce is like a nickel or a dime more (i couldnt find a rate chart when i started doing it, i just assumed it would be ~4-5 bucks) so now that i KNOW I've been changing the weights to 13 ounces instead, figuring i'd eat the change in those instances that its 14 or 15 ounces. unfortunately, i have to charge a handling fee for FC since i now have to pay for shipping materials so i cant drop that either.
i knew i should have left well enough alone. it goes against everything i believe in to start futzing with shipping but i felt forced into a corner by ebay. for me, i should have just stayed with priority like I've always done.
so anyway, that's where i am--sticking with 13 ounces and absorbing any difference. hopefully its only a few that it applies to.

When you print your label for that 15 oz package it will charge you $3.60 (if you're TRS). I don't know what it is for non-TRS. No extra discount for first class for TRS or TRS+; it's just the online FC price.

Yep, no discount for TRS for FC.
Another thing to remember is the $50 or $100 (for TRS) insurance included on PM.

57 roses--I thought first class only went thru 15 oz. 16 oz has to go via priority, correct? It calculated as 15.9 oz. It is showing this amount (0 lbs 15.9 ozs) on the label I was charged $3.65 for the shipping Buyer was charged whatever I put previously-$6.++ I am changing my new listings to reflect First Class shipping with Flat rate of up to $3.95. I will have to go in and change my other listings. I refunded the above buyer $2.50 but no way do I want to lose buyers or refund shipping with every purchase.

I thought first class now includes 16 oz but 16.01 must go priority. When 13 was the cut-off, I'd take packages that were 12+ into the into the PO and have them weighed... 16 oz was fine with them. The drop-down choices give up to 1 lb as an option and I leave it blank all the time for 14-16 oz. At least that's how it reads on my console. I include shipping on most items but have to get the postage right for international shipping or else.

The problem as I see it, is that right now, since this is brand new, we have no idea if Ebay made a calculation error, of if it was intended that we be charged $3.60 or whatever & the calculation be for $6.45. I can't believe that's correct.
I think Kloset's suggestion will work, as will changing them back to a PFRE, but a PFRE is even more expensive.
IDK what to even say to Ina, I don't know if this is an error or not, but it must be.
