Anything exciting on the agenda?
DH told me to go buy the gas grill I want. I've been looking for a small one and debating between the Weber Spirit Gourmet and the same size Weber with a door. I bought him a card and later this week we're going for a massage.

Cool deal on the grill. I used to ask my BFs for power tools. I'd get jewelry. Arggh. Is either one a smoker?

No smoker. There are small three burners, no side burner. One has the gourmet system, which the middle of the bars come out and you can replace it with a flat grill, chicken roaster or other accessories. The downside is the front panel. It's very flimsy and the store models are already getting bent.
The same grill without the gourmet system has a door for the propane tank. Much sturdier. I think that's the one I'm going to purchase. Home Depot doesn't have it in stock, so I'm checking other places. May have to order online.
I actually have a huge gas grill. It has the oven, 5 burners, side burner, warming drawers...everything. It's a Kirkland that my husband picked up second hand. It's in nice condition, but I hate it. It's too big and I think I've used it twice. I'm a charcoal fan, but really tired of cleaning up the mess and dealing with the wait time.

We don't give presents much, but we're going to an early dinner at our favorite local restaurant, since it's supposed to snow in earnest (Surprise!) later tonight.
DH had his six-week post-surgery doctor's visit Thursday and has permission to stop wearing the gargantuan neck brace, so it'll be nice to go out in public again. We've gone out here and there, but he didn't feel comfortable going to our local regular spots.

Of course. Especially if you have your kids this weekend and you're buying them some cool Valentine's treat.

We're kind of geeky. We all exchanged those old fashioned valentines that you buy in packs of 30 or so and give out in grade school, with a token gift like a candy bar. We're having a family Valentine dinner too. Only 4 of us will be home for dinner. 3 of us will be cooking part of the meal and the 4th will do the dishes. So no one really gets to lay back and be the Valentine of the day, but no one has to do it all either.

I'm going to go get a pedicure/manicure for our "couch potato" date tonight. Then go grocery shopping. DH was fixing the fence then said he had to run to Lowes really quick. 3 hours pass. I'm thinking "aw, he's out taking care of v-day stuff", then I get a text from him with a picture of a Harley with the caption "pleeeeeeeease" LOLOLOL! Happy Valentines day friends! I made something special for all you sweethearts:

Wow. Half off candy and half off Savers clothing.
All I need is half off at Starbucks and I'll feel like I hit the big trifecta!

I had planned on going to the store this mornging to get some stuff for a nice dinner, but the weather is horrible. County put out an emergency 'stay off the roads' through tonight due to high winds and blowing snow. So I'm making chili instead and listing. Lol.

We're making a nice dinner tonight. Hubby's always been one of those "anti-Valentines" people so I've never gotten or expected flowers/jewelry. I think it's one of those things that mattered when I was younger, trying to have something to brag to friends about. I bought us tickets to Alton Brown for our present next weekend so I'm looking forward to that and going out to dinner.

We went to Rptexas Roadhouse a week ago for dinner.
Spent some of our tax return on a new tv for our bedroom. I did all the research on it. We picked it up this morning. 40" Sony Bravia HDTV.
Hubby likes the sound on it.

My DH and I went to the restaurant that we went to on our first date.....Captain D's! We were young and broke then. Such a fun lunch today remembering way back when.

Liz, thanks for the strawberries. Yum! One of my favorites.
Home already. LOL. Didn't make reservations, val, as we were going early enough that I didn't think we'd need them. We got seated right away, but had we gotten there 10 minutes later, we probably would've had to wait a bit. Dinner was yummy. I had salad/bread, a filet, mushroom risotto and asparagus. Our favorite waitress was working the bar tonight, so after dinner we sat at the bar for coffee and dessert (cannoli). Oh, had two dirty martinis with dinner, too. Ran into some acquaintances who sat next to us at the bar while we had our dessert. All in all, a very enjoyable evening and home in time to visit here for awhile.
About 3" of snow on the ground now and it's supposed to continue through tomorrow afternoon for a total of 8-10". I told DH as we were leaving the restaurant that I'm starting to feel like I live in Alaska or something. Used to be that we'd stay home if there was snow in the forecast, but it's been snowing so often over the past several weeks, that we're carrying on rather than staying holed up. We'll probably stay in tomorrow, though. Went to 4:00 Mass this afternoon before going to dinner.

We were going to go out for an early dinner but he ended up working late. Now he doesn't want to go battle the crowds, so we're going to go tomorrow instead.

Bummer on the working late, but maybe it means you'll have smaller crowds and better service tomorrow. ((((odyssey))))

So he's home now. He also stopped to get me a card, and he said there were about 20 men in the card section at the last minute and not a single woman. lol

DBF got me this giant chocolate samples from Russell Stover. The box is literally two feet wide. I LOVE chocolate so I am in heaven, lol. We are also going to go out to dinner but we aren't doing that until Monday night.

It is amazing! He got it at Hy-Vee which is a grocery chain in NE and IA. They were selling them at Christmas and I wanted one so badly. He went to get it and they were all sold out. They brought them back for Valentine's day and he got me one.

We have a Russell Stover outlet about 90 miles from here. We stop on the way to visit friends up that way. Mostly what they sell are what they call bloopers, which are just slightly less than perfect looking. But they also sell left over seasonal stuff. We were there in mid January and bought Halloween stuff at something like 75% off retail. Maybe they'll have some left over from Valentine's Day next time we go. I'll make sure we get up there again before the end of March because now I want a giant box of chocolates.

DH and I went out without the kids tonight - the first time in years and years. We saw Kathy Griffin and laughed our arses off. He got me the tickets a few months ago for my birthday, but I pretended it was our Valentine's date (I'm so pathetic sometimes ). He also got me roses yesterday, but left them in the car overnight (with sub-freezing temps here), so they're pretty much a mess. I only got him a card...is that bad of me? And I still haven't given it to him yet because when we got home, he fell asleep on the couch. All-in-all, a pretty good Valentine's day since, until recently, for the last few years we hadn't gotten along very well and Valentine's day was kind of torture.
