We have not done a 5K since last fall. Jim had open heart surgery in December, and my knees have been a problem. We decided to do a 5K tomorrow. We plan to do a run/walk, due to lack of training. This is our weather forecast at home, we are going 75 miles north for the run. The run is at 11am. Yikes!

I'm trying really hard to think of something inspirational to say. But I keep looking at those negative numbers...
Think of it as an adventure?
Have fun!

Um, I agree with you. You've lost your mind. LOL.
I'll try to think of something positive, too.
It'll be a great story to retell.
Brrrrrrrrrrr.
Good luck and I have great respect for your commitment.

Do you have a Savers in your area? Half off tomorrow for Club Card holders. Much better way to spend the time. And you can still "walk" around in there.

The picture shows the sun peeking out from behind an igloo... sorta says it all. Crazy. Hope you both have a wonderful time tho!

My first thought was, "is DH cleared for this after less than 8 weeks?"

Ugh! My hat's off to you, brave one! I just came in from plowing our driveway and I can't even THINK of being outside right now! Have fun though!

I feel like a total weenie. I cajoled one of the kids into taking my package to the mailbox yesterday because I thought it was too cold to leave the house for even 15 minutes. It was 25 degrees.

My first thought was, "is DH cleared for this after less than 8 weeks?" His cardiologist is a runner, so he cleared him. He is cleared for everything except shoveling. I think we need a new Dr.

We just tested our layers outside for 15 minutes. We need to add a couple more for tomorrow. I have already told him that I will not finish if I feel that I am risking frost bite.
I wouldn't go, except we have booked a room at a casino hotel afterwards.
I am going just for the reward.

Actually, you do look pretty put together and coordinated for it to be sub-zero artic cold weather wear.

As you zoom past, people will turn to each other and ask "Who was that ninja with the leopard fur hat?"

Youz a tiny thing. I would be jealous, except it appears you have to do stuff in really icky cold weather, so that kinda negates any jealous feelings.
Enjoy the reward!

My gear recommendation would be under armor top and bottom, polartec pants, tshirt, polatec jacket, polatec hat-gloves-scarf and maybe a balaclava mask, sock and glove liners and some type of smart wool socks.
The worst part is going to be the cold air hitting your lungs and nose.
I wouldn't do it but that is me. I use a treadmill when it is very cold or windy.
