Great - that's just what we need.
The best thing buyers can do is vote with their wallet. Limit searches to US only, pay attention to item location, feedback, shipping location, etc. If you do get duped by a Chinese seller listing as US based - complain, note it in feedback, something.
I'm not xenophobic in the least, but the cheap, low quality, knock-offs, etc. coming from Chinese sellers is unbelievable. While I'm sure there are some good Chinese sellers, it's impossible to tell anymore.

If this is what ebay really wants then they should just sell out to Allibaba and be done with it.
And yes I know that would totally kill off the US sellers but all this is the start of a slow death anyway.

The feeling of powerlessness. That there isn't anything we can do about it. Maybe at least those of us in this group can do as above--what shophippy says.
So far we can usually tell if something is coming from China, but not always. I would even spread it all over the ebay discussion boards where the newbies hang out. Buy from honest US sellers, not from the Chinese competitors and you will be better off.

The last few times I logged into Paypal I got an ad saying, "Save 2.5% on your inventory. Explore our Global Supplier Directory to find trusted suppliers in China. Receive a 2.5% rebate when you source from select sellers". I took a screen shot of it cause I was sort of appalled by the suggestion but I can't seem to make links work anymore.
So eBay & Paypal are convinced that we're gonna buy cheap Chinese crap either as buyers OR as sellers, like it or not. I didn't know they were building warehouses to store Chinese inventory in the US; that's pretty devious. And how can they say they're trying to combat counterfeits while they're encouraging knock-offs? This is just all wrong... hope karma bites them hard!

I limit to US. Then I'll expand to North America to check Canadian listings if I don't find it with a US seller.

I limit to United States too but some of those Chinese sellers are putting in a U.S. town in their Item Location like that is really their location.
You can tell by the feedback when some of their buyers mention it taking so long to arrive and they didn't know it was coming from China.

The ESL language in the listings give it away a lot of times too.

I absolutely LOVE this comment on the article
"Unfortunately you have to buy items that the Chinese can't duplicate. Many of them don't sell the designer name brands like Polo or Urban Outfitters, Free People, H&M. They don't sell Black&Decker. Name brands still have value among buyers."

I gave Wenig the benefit of the doubt until I read the article this morning. It tells me he's out for the quick money before ebay is either sold or sinks beyond redemption. He's just another overpaid, overcompensated CEO who has no conscience, no morals and no ethics what he's doing to small US sellers who depend on the income to survive. He obviously doesn't care flooding ebay with even more cheap Chinese junk is going to lose more buyers as well as sellers he talked about helping when he took over. Wenig has shown his talk is as cheap as the Chinese crap sold on ebay. Shame on him.

Very disapointed to find out he'd rather bow down to Wall Street.

The Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service sets policy, procedure, and postal rates for services rendered, and has a similar role to a corporate board of directors.
Interesting comment. And I wonder - maybe I should start a Change.org petition and see just how many signatures I can get, demanding the cheap postage agreement be revoked.
