Does anyone have a link to the eBay policy for when a package is lost/not shown as delivered, that the seller is responsible?
Also, is there a policy about insurance, and not being able to force a buyer to purchase it, as it is protection for the seller?
I can't find them (or maybe they don't exist)
Thanks!

OK-- found the policy for the package being lost/stolen and seller is responsible-- it was in the eBay money back guarantee section, and I was checking shipping.
Still hunting for the policy about insurance...

Sorry, don't have time to go looking for eBay policies right now. But I believe a missing/undelivered pkg ultimately does fall on a sellers shoulders according to Federal Trade laws. As for insurance, I know I've seen policy (somewhere!) that it benefits the seller and cannot be forced onto buyers. ETA: as in, *buyers* are not to be charged for it.
If I'm wrong, somebody just slap me...

This is a good question. The other night I was printing postage at 2am. In my view it was an expensive item. After hearing all the stories about folks claiming they had not received the item I just went ahead and paid for the insurance. I have 'free shipping' on my items. I figured I rather loose the couple of dollars to insure the thing than have to refund it all if it got lost or stolen.

^^^^ I added my own form of insurance last week. For an extra buck, I upgraded a FC pkg to Priority to CMA on a $32 skirt.

I dunno that any ebay policy is needed - it's US law that the seller is the owner of the item until it's delivered unless it was shipped FOB - meaning the buyer arranges the shipping/packing.

I'm trying to remember the insurance policy, as it is weird. You can still charge buyers for insurance, but I think you can't offer it individually as a line item, it has to be included in the whole price, IIRC.
