After purchasing this kit I discovered it has been opened. I've not cross stitched or embroidered much. The kit says it includes diagrams, directions and stitch instructions. In the kit there is 1 big fold out sheet. I've uploaded a couple of pictures and want to make sure this is what they are referring to and that something isn't missing. Apparently this kit is a sought after item and brings a nice price. I sure don't want to make a mistake with it! If anyone has experience with these kits I would sure appreciate their input. Thanks Deborah

That looks okay to me. There's the diagram, center seems to show the examples of the stitches and (I can't see it but directions on how to make each stitch) and the top shows what each letter looks like close up. If it's cross stitch it's simple anyway, just XXXXX. I guess it could all fit on that one sheet. Looks complete to me. Make sure you include good pictures of the instructions so that they can see for themselves.
You do have the canvas (or whatever cloth they used) and the yarn, right? Needle, if it says so.
Samplers do well. I have a few that I can't GIVE away though. I used to adore Elsa Williams for her artistic embroidery kits.

Actually, isn't the tree crewel? I can't see the directions well enough but there should probably be instructions for things like chain stitch for the tree. The tree is not cross stitch. I still think it's probably ok. I'd just like to see the center part with the instructions up close to make sure it has the directions for the stitches in the tree. The letters (at the top part) are just XXXXXXX--cross stitch, doesn't really need instructions for that--it's very simple.

It's actually cross stitch and crewel. There are no instructions that show how to make the particular stitch. I was thinking that perhaps when you are advanced enough to work something like this the kit maker would feel like you didn't need to be shown an example of what a satin stitch is. The linen, thread and needle are all there.

I tend to agree with you that they must be assuming that the person knows how to make these stitches. It does all SEEM to be complete on the one page but I just wonder (since I don't know) how they expect a person to know what a New England Laid stitch is if they don't tell them. I never heard of it although I've heard of laid stitch.
I notice they give a letter to designate the color for two shades of green--you could check to see if there is a list of all the colors and letters somewhere on the sheet. They would have to have that, I would think. What is K? What is E? Z? There would have to be a chart somewhere, a key to tell what they are or else they wouldn't have bothered to even designate them.

I was hoping that the letters referred to the area to be stitched. The yarn colors are numbered. I tried to look at the same type kits but no one else has an open one pictured.
Perhaps my best course of action is to list it at auction and show exactly what is included w a note that it is my belief that it's complete but to judge for themselves. The last one to go at auction sold for 170. Which amazes me.

"medium dark forest green (B)" so the letters refer to the colors. It's probably complete but I really don't know for sure. That's the trouble when it's been opened. I don't understand the prices lately--embroidery kits used to sell great. Then it got so that only a select few do sell. I swore I would never buy another one until the other day I saw a good one AND it was unopened. Paid $3.00, got it home and supposedly it's worth about $150. No nibbles so far. I really expect to end up selling it for $25 or so. My other problem with embroidery sets is the choices: new or used. Well, most of the time they are opened but unused. There's no place to put that though and it's like NWOT. I mentioned it to CS one time and they agreed there was no good choice for Opened but Unused. It's not really USED. You would have to list yours a USED. Maybe an auction with sort of a high starting price and just see what happens.
