How to refurbish the metal on Brighton handbags

Does anyone know if it's possible to refurbish the silver metal charms on Brighton handbags? It seems when I get the older ones the silver is all tarnished and sometimes flaking off. I was wondering if there is any way to clean it up.

Don't really know of one since, I think, once silver tone or gold tone metal is screwed up, it's gone. But in certain situations, metallic marker can help.

I thought I had read something on one of the other boards a long time ago about how to do this, but I can't remember what it was. I just picked up one of the Brighton straw bags and the hardware is all messed up.

I don't know if it's possible to refinish Brighton hardware, since it's silver plate not sterling.

I've had a few of the chain handles of kids purses tarnish.  I polished them with a jeweler's cloth and they look new.  This is similar to the one I have.

If Brighton really is silver plated, this product might work.

It is expensive but 4 oz will last a very long time.
The suggestion of metallic marker might work but choose a quality one. I have been pleased with the Krylon brand. Spraying (after masking the surrounding material) with a gloss Krylon sealer will increase protection and wearability.
