See? The cosmos is telling you that you NEED a kitten.

I'm not so sure that program is a good idea, mainly for the kittens.

It's along the same lines as the city hall where Shirley lives. They have kittens you can check out. Anything that gets them adopted in good homes works for me!

The key there is good homes and not homes where "Oh, look how cute this kitten is" impulse rules and the kitten is thrown outside the minute somebody "may" be allergic or it scratches the 2 year old that is carrying it around by the tail. Those are not "good" homes.
When I work with the rescue at her adoptions at Petsmart, I see all too many of those potential "cute kitten" adoption impulses but we really weed them out with screening and a healthy adoption donation.

That's what I was thinking Kritter, people need to put a little effort into adopting any pet. I doubt the long term welfare of the kittens is the reason for the program.

According to the article, the main goal was fundraising ($30/cuddle). The secondary benefit was that some of the kittens were also adopted.
Or that that was my take on the article.

There wouldn't be so many 1-5 year old cats up for adoption if people stopped to think (and care) that Little Fluffy may one day be toothless and 18 years old.

Hey, my cat resembles that remark!
Well, sorta. He's 15 and has 2 teeth.

LOL, Val. Here they charge for each tooth extraction, like $35 for a front one, $100 for a (supposedly difficult) back one. That's on top of the $800 or so for the sedation, drips, etc. And pet insurance refunds suck, that's if they pay at all for dental stuff.

Ha. That's cheap. I paid a lot more than that for Hootie's dental work. But that's ok, over the years I've had him he's been healthy and cost me very little money, so a blip here and there isn't bad. He's worth it. Best. Cat. Ever.
