I agree with the poster who said the property company was trying to cut costs for executive bonus purposes. WHy not just offer the service for a fee? I'm an apartment dweller, I'd pay the fee, but ONLY if the office was open later one evening for residents to get packages (say Thursday til 7:00, something like that).

It takes their employees ten minutes to sign for a package and plop it on a shelf? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel when they hire.

For the amount they're charging for rent they should not only accept the package but deliver it to the tenants' doors. $1900 for a studio? Sheesh.

Now I know why, when I've been looking at apartments lately, that the leasing agent is saying "and we sign and hold your packages for you too!". Non-Camden properties, of course.

That is crazy! Our apartment complex had us sign a paper as part of the lease saying we give them permission to sign for our packages. Our postal carrier always leaves a little slip in our mailbox saying we have a package in the office. Sometimes the manager even calls us to let us know it is there and to encourage you to pick it up quickly if it is very large. (Understandable, since space is limited in the closet they use for oversized packages.)
