I've noticed on my last couple bags that they kept the turds and returned my better stuff, and I've seen other boardies say the same.
Just for the heck of it, I was reading the ThredUp BBB complaints last night and it is starting to seem a bit shady. Several people said they sent high end stuff and requested return assurance, but ThredUp accepted NOTHING, therefore there were no funds to deduct the return shipping from - so they refused to send any of it back.
The rep acknowledged this and said that policy is on their site somewhere. That's BS, in my opinion.
Also TONS of people who didn't get return assurance saying they accepted their worn items for pennies, and did not accept their better items so they got them for free. Someone said they saw their unaccepted item listed on ebay by someone from the same vicinity. Not sure if it was thredup because it was xxxxxxx'd out.
People were asking where they donate the unaccepted stuff to, and the rep would not give a straight answer. Why would that be a secret?
From my last bag, I am missing a suit jacket although I got the pants back. I emailed them asking if they have the jacket, since they didn't accept it. Every single return bag I've gotten has been missing at least one thing.
I think they are selling them elsewhere, JMO, of course, I won't be dealing with them again.

I've quit sending them stuff. Their return postage is too high. Things went missing. Their payouts have gotten extremely slim. They take to long to process. They take too long to pay.
Check out LikeTwice if you haven't yet. They pay outright (no consignment) and they give you an OFFER. you have a choice to accept or decline what they want to give you for your items, and they give you a list of exactly what they are accepting and declining. Once you accept, you can deposit the money right into your Paypal account. No waiting 2 weeks like TU makes you.

I sent my first AND ONLY bag to them back in December! I have received two emails saying I should hear from them by Feb 20th.
I looked at the BBB and some other review sites after reading something online about them.....and I no longer trust them either! Too many stories of people sending in NWT on disigner names and they would not take them and yet the p[eople did not get their items back...which means they got those clothes for free. And reports of those same items then showing up for sale on the site!
I sent in 11 items that had nto sold in a long time....some NWT...and I have already told myself to just consider it a loss and chalk it up as a lesson!
you live you learn!

Interesting. However, if they keep continuing doing business they way they have been--those poor 300 people will be standing in the unemployment line in under a year. Just my thoughts.

That is just wrong, and so easily sets up the opportunity for fraud.
They need to give the sender the opportunity to pay for the return shipping, then if the sender refuses there will be no question about them having the items legitimately. Otherwise a taint of fraud will always hang over the transaction.

It really seems like they are mostly accepting crap items that they can pay pennies for and then trying to keep the better stuff for free. A lot of people don't do the return assurance because they think their higher end stuff will be accepted and they don't care about losing the rest.

I sent them a NWT Gucci bag along with a bunch of other mixed items. I got the Gucci back while they kept a bunch of other stuff that was like Merona & Gap. They tried to sell my Marc Jacobs Love Story bag (original retail in the $800 range) for $32 with a suggested retail of $78 but I reclaimed it in time, while tons of other MJ that is less popular is WAAAY overpriced on the site; and I had a big fight with them because they gave me $3 for a pair of jeans that should have been on consignment because they started the listing at 24.99. Eventually I got the full $24.99 out of them but I had to fight for it and those jeans would have fetched at least $40 if I had sold them myself even on ebay. I still send stuff but I carefully document what I am sending, I take the return assurance every time and you'd better believe if they tried to keep any of my high end items without paying me I'd be the first to sue them. Just because they say they can do it on their website doesn't mean it is legal.
I also think it is obnoxious the way they cherry pick and then price the items so low initially. I'm being very very careful with them and am probably only going to use them for turds from here on out.
Also, I am one of the ones who, like others, has sent the same items more than once and had them accepted on the 2nd go-around.

I sent them 2 bags last year and got so-so payouts ($47 for a Dolce & Gabbana dress, $43 for a Moschino jacket). But it took a long time to actually get the money in my PP account, and I had to pay additional shipping to reclaim a couple of things that didn't sell. Ultimately not worth it, imo.
What does everyone currently think about Twice? I know they pay faster, but are their payouts better than ThredUp?

LikeTwice just processed 2 bags this week.
From my mens bag: 10 ACCEPTED ITEMS J.Crew Outlet top J.Crew pants Uniqlo pants Uniqlo pants Volcom top Hollister top Roar top Ralph Lauren Blue Label top J.Crew top Levi's top 4 DECLINED ITEMS Top from unaccepted brand — unaccepted brand Faconnable top — overall wear Saks Fifth Avenue top — staining GUESS Jeans jeans — overall wear Payout PayPal $53.50
Then they just processed this bag. I have not accepted or declined their offer yet. It contained items that had been relisted numerous times or something that I simply knew would NOT sell on eBay for even $5: The offer is $111.25 store credit, or $89 direct deposit to paypal
7 ACCEPTED ITEMS Coldwater Creek dress Coldwater Creek top Coldwater Creek top Coldwater Creek top Cynthia Steffe top Lucy pants Coldwater Creek dress Coldwater Creek dress Lucy top Anne Klein top Marc by Marc Jacobs top Express top Coldwater Creek dress ECI by Nordstrom dress Coldwater Creek dress Patagonia dress Lithe by Anthropologie skirt 11 DECLINED ITEMS The Limited top — staining The Limited top — staining Calypso top — unaccepted brand Elevenses by Anthropologie skirt — staining Top from unaccepted brand — unaccepted brand Express pants — staining Ralph Lauren Blue Label top — staining Nordstrom top — staining Banana Republic top — staining Unaccepted category item from Hollister — unaccepted category Unaccepted category item from Hollister — unaccepted category
Every single thing that I sent them is listed. They did not "lose" anything. I also have/had the option to accept or decline their offer. If I were to decline, it would only be $4.95 to have everything sent back.

Did you really send that many stained items or is that just their generic decline reason?

I knew some weren't in the best condition. Nothing with huge stains. But I'm sure it is pretty standard for them to say that for most wear.

My first bag pay-out was great ($150+), but the return bag had missing items. When I contacted them about it, they gave me credit for the missing items. I was pretty unhappy about it, but I wrote it off as growing pains for them as a young start-up.
However, my second bag was a terrible all around. It took twice as long to process, had a payout under $20 and my return bag came back with missing items and two damaged dresses. Both were stained with what looked like coffee and one had a hole and long snag through the netting hem like it had been tried on and stepped through with a hi-heel. I had to toss them and wished I hadn't bothered paying for them to be returned to me.
I guess if I ever do send them another bag it will of things I'm ready to re-donate or throw away; but I doubt I'll do business with them as a seller at least. I did buy from them with some of my payout from bag #1 and everything was great btw.

I especially didn't like to long wait with thred-up. I never tried twice for selling but I was impressed when I bought something from them on ebay.

I had a pretty good first experience with sending 2 bags (approximately 40 items each) and making about $150 on 2 bags all mid range brands, some bread and butter type and some a little better than that. They kept a couple of pieces for consignment and one or 2 of those sold but the majority never sold. One of these bags had returns shipping on it and one items was missing when I got it back, they did after a few emails back and forth reimburse me for it because I coincidentally had a picture of the missing item.
I sent 2 more bags (approximately 40 items each) same caliber of items and received $17.00 on one bag and I think it was $23 on the other, they kept 3 items out of each bag for consignment I think one of those 6 sold and my cut was like $9.00. Very disappointed with second experience will not send any additional items. I am very curious what happens to all the beautiful, very sellable clothes that were deemed "not worthy" when I see some of the crap that they have up for sale.
I don't want to think it but I really feel that some reseller or store in their area has an agreement with them to purchase the rejected items or they have a different name on ebay and are selling them. I just cannot believe they are all being donated, it just defies common sense. I don't want to accuse but just running it up flag pole for discussion.

I tried TU on 2 occasions, not thrilled. I liked Twice much better. Faster, get a run down of the items, etc.

I was somewhat satisfied with ThredUp when I sent them some bags last fall but I requested an expired unsold consignment item be returned, paid the $3.00 for them to send it and never received it.

Update: I received my results on Thursday. Thred Up took 9 of the 11 items I sent. 8 they took and 1 on consignment. I got $37.03 for the 8 items. The consignment is listed at $79 and I will get half if it sells. The two items they did not take were lane Bryant tops....and no reason given for not taking them. They have Lane Bryant listings all over the site!
I am not that disappointed...items had sat forever. Anything is better than nothing. I hate having to wait 2 weeks for payout! That's BS.
I do have another bag from them....but may give Tradesy a try.

My last bag TU took three items. One upfront and two consignment. One of the consignment items has been "on reserve" since they listed it, and they keep lowering the price. I can't reclaim it while it's on reserve... Maybe I'll try twice, I've got so much inventory there's no way I can ever get it all listed.

Send them a message about it. I had an item go permanently on reserve too. I asked them about it, and whaddayaknow, it sold instead of being on reserve. I wonder if employees put stuff on reserve. They have now "lost" one of my items when I tried to reclaim it, plus an entire bag isn't showing up either. They need to upgrade their business practices.

Good to know fuzzy, I'll contact them and see what happens. It happened with another item from the bag before and it never sold. Was just on reserve forever until the listing ran out & I could reclaim it. Sucks about your missing items. I have another bag that I ordered but I got busy and didn't fill it. Then, they changed their pricing/payout structure and I decided it wasn't worth it.

Oh yeah! And, I saw a super-nasty obvious fake Dooney on the site the other day. I reported it and it went away, but they just replied with"our experts verify authenticity" blah blah blah BS.

And you can get your money as soon as you accept their offer.
