I am a whiny one this week but USPS has not picked up my packages in 2 days! Every once in awhile my regular guy would take off and it would happen. I started scheduling online and they have been good. Well they didn't pick them up yesterday or today. I have been calling since yesterday and they have not answered. It just rings and rings. They don't answer at the 1 800 number either. I look like a paranoid freak looking out my window? WTH Anyone else having this problem? Did they go on strike?

You may have a substitute carrier, or a new one even. That happened to me so many times I just stopped using pickup service. They'd not pick up then I'd get the evening email saying they did …. and I'm looking at the damn package in my hand.

I would have taken them today but my daughter has the car because hers broke down. I wish I could just connect them to Ebay and let them both hash it out. Oh well, better luck next week.

That's one of the reasons I extended my handling time - not for me, for USPS Do you have a local # to call?

Funny you should ask that. They didn't pick mine up yesterday. At 4:30 I called to remind them I had a pick-up. They said they had staffing problems but the carrier was still out there and would pick them up. She didn't. But then I got an email confirmation that the packages had been picked up.
At the same time I was waiting for a return. The tracking said they had tried to deliver it yesterday morning, but no one was home so they left a slip. I was home all day. They did not try to deliver it. No slip was left.
I called the USPS 800 number to complain and got someone who "apologized" but it was clear she really didn't get it or care. She said the system generates those confirmation emails so it has nothing to do with whether your packages are picked up or not. She had no explanation for the tracking on the package they supposedly tried to deliver.
Today the carrier shows up to deliver my mail and the missing package and to pick up my packages from yesterday. I asked her why she didn't pick up my packages yesterday and she said she had the sheet telling her I had a pick-up scheduled but she didn't read it. She assumed it was a mail hold because a lot of people are on vacation now. I kid you not.

My carrier scans at my front door when he does a PU. Doesn't even wait until he gets back to his truck. If I hear him on the porch at 9:37, my confirmation e-mail will have been generated at 9:37. Every time. I've also had some problems lately. Including receiving a confirmation for a package that was NOT picked up. But the fake confirmation came about 5 minutes after the carrier left my porch. Probably about the time he got back in his truck and realized he'd forgotten me. So I would find it hard to believe that these confirmations weren't generated by some prompt from the carrier, whether they're telling the truth about picking up or not. I think you're right on; she was clueless or doesn't care.

USPS must use the same Customer Service Training Academy that eBay uses.

I had a near-miss yesterday with a confirmed pick up order. Brand new sub carrier whizzed on down the street, with me standing on the porch hootin', hollerin', cussin' up a storm... had just got done printing off my confirmation (was gonna raise some hell at the P.O.) when the doorbell rang. Surprise! Carrier realized his screw up, but I was wary because he was parked across the street and had no scanner. So I pressed him a bit, with a stink-eye look..."You ARE going to scan them as picked up, aren't you?!" He assured me he would. And he did. For once, something worked out right.

Just want to say my carrier has been pretty good with my scheduled pick-ups. We have one of those large rural type mailboxes so I can usually get any packages going out that day inside it. But sometimes I have a larger number and/or bigger box with at least one a priority package so I will do a pick-up at our back door. Did one today in fact.
