Does anyone have one of the all in one PC units? Similar to this: tinyurl.com/phvljckNot that exact model, just that all-in-one style? If you do, do you like it? I may need to get a desktop PC to use to host some programs for clients, and that type unit means I wouldn't have to buy a separate monitor. Just curious how this style holds up.

Good question
I am looking to get a new computer and have looked at those. I had questions too about how long it would last as monitors wear out faster then computers.

I've had a Dell All-in-One for a little over four years now. Had a couple of bugs which were under warranty the first year and have had no problems since. Take that back, recently, the optical drive stopped working. Not a big deal. I just ordered an external USB one for $30.
When this one goes bad, I'd definitely buy another All-in-One.

I had a Dell All In One before I got this one and the motherboard went out and they couldn't get one to replace it for some reason.
I really liked it and the only reason that I didn't replace it with the same thing was there were no Dell All In Ones with Windows 7. All were Windows 8.
Never had any issues until the motherboard took it out.

I have a Dell All-in-One now. The only thing I don't like about it is that I can't hook up another monitor to is, so I can run double monitors. However, that's not really something I had intentions of doing. Just easier to watch Netflix while I'm working LOL I do like how much less space it takes up. No tower to deal with. I've got Windows 10 on it now and it's running perfectly.

Yea - my only question about it would be ability to run peripherals - how many and what? That's probably because I have a bazillion things hooked up to my computer and I'm always plugging in all kinds of other crap - I had to install another USB card for all of my Other Crap and then get a KVM switch.
Also I know that tabs tend to have bricking and motherboard issues (the motherboard went out on my Acer tab in a year - I'd wonder about the stability of the all-in-one.
I really like the idea, though.

If I get it, it will be so I can partition part off part of it and run a program on the partioned area that allows QB to run like it's on a server. Then clients can log in remote to their file, and if I happen to need the pc, I can work on the pc but in a different program at the same time. Sort of like a cloud server but on a harddrive. Same affect as when you log in to another computer via logmein or team viewer, except the remote person and a live person can work on the computer at the same time. Using logmein or Team Viewer won't work in this case, as the remote user takes over the computer, and I don't want that. But I also don't want to spend a fortune for this, either. The all in ones are cheaper.
I have a large laptop for client offices where I need a laptop, and a very nice, LARGE mac as my main workhorse computer. The all in one would just be a hosting unit, so to speak.

I'm glad you mentioned peripherals Chap, I hadn't even thought about that.
I have lots of things plugged into mine now, and I bet you couldn't use a second monitor with one either.
I guess all-in-one's are off my shopping list.

Oh cool, you can. Now all-in-one's are back on my list. At this rate Win 15 will be out before I can decide on a computer.

We have both a Dell all-in-one and an ACER all-in-one. The Dell is 3-4 years old and I still love it. The ACER is about a year old and I've been to the point of wanting to throw that stupid thing off the deck just to watch it fly on more than one occasion. I'm still cursing the salesperson who said it was better than the HP I was considering. It's been reset twice under manufacturer's warranty. I don't know maybe it's a lemon, but I can't imagine buying an ACER again.
If it's the style your asking about, it seems to work just fine.

Dh had an Acer laptop, that think was a load of dung from day one, kids won't even use it, I agree with staying away from them although I'm sure others have had luck with the brand.
I bought an all in one about 3 years ago used it a couple of time then packed it away for the remodel, got it out when I started ebaying again this year. It's an HP and I like it. Haven't had any issues or glitches with it, Don't think I'd go back to using a separate monitor and tower again.

Yup. Just want to be sure it doesn't overheat or do funky things.

If there had been a Dell All In One with Windows 7 available when my first one bit the dust, I would have gotten another one.
Now I have this freaking tower back again.

I don't mind the towers, in fact I just bought one.
Found a great deal on a refurbished HP with Win 7, Intel processor, 8GB memory and 1TB hard drive. With tax it was only $250.62 and had free shipping. I won't know what to do with that kind of memory and speed, poor old Beulah only has 2GB memory.

I prefer a tower for my workhorse computer - I need the flexibility and to be able to configure it as I please, plus be able to work on it myself, replace/upgrade video cards, add USB ports, etc. Also, a tower can provide dual DVD/CD players which I use a lot for burning CDs and DVDs, plus backing up my system, CD engraving, two printers, bass booster, speakers, etc. Upgrades, add-ons, etc., that are a real hassle on a notebook/laptop are a breeze with a tower.
It really comes down to what you use the machine for - if it's straightforward computing an all-in-one is a nice option. If you've got other uses that require flexibility and the ability to re-configure, then a tower is a better option.
At home I have two towers slaved on a KVM switch so I can share peripherals - one is an XP which I'm converting to a stand-alone (no internet) with a turbo-AT look. It's just for writing and backups. The other is my workhorse.
But on the road, I just use a tablet - has everything I require for that. An all-in-one would be cool for that, too.
ETA: My larger tablet has an optional keyboard.

LOL! I already have an iMac, clean. And an old eMac that still runs. I just needed a cheap PC but not a laptop. However, I'm now looking at outside cloud hosting for this particular client so I may not need another computer. I had an Acer netbook that worked fine, it recently found a new home I have an Acer 17" laptop that works fine. Huge screen and it does not run hot, which is a big plus. Maybe it's just the Acer towers that aren't good?
