Hi all- I've got imgur open so figured it was a good time to post about silkscreened print. I found this nifty art print at my usual thrift almost a year ago. No idea when it was damaged but it had a tear in it when I found it. I know it can be repaired and will have it done if it looks like it's worth the time & $$. It's a Coke-themed screen print signed in pencil " Sinats 1974 and titled "From 'C' To Shining 'C', I'll be 'C-ing' You After spending time researching the piece & the artist I drew a blank and decided to list it anyway. Got ZERO interest with hardly any views. Okay, fine. Now it's a couple of months later and I decided to research it again thinking I'd give it to a friend as a gift. She collects Coke stuff but it's not really her style. This time I found a first name; the print is by Andy Sinats, a Canadian artist & eco-activist. There's very little info online about this artist; it turns out he has a few pieces in museums so maybe I need to do more research regarding a general value. I'm considering running a 10 day auction later this month with a percentage going to an eco charity- it seems appropriate. WWYD? Thanks for looking- hope someone has some suggestions. Sandra

Cool!! But how odd- I wonder why they didn't come up in my search. Oh yeah, I guess Google was too busy changing my search to "saints" or "sinus" to be bothered with the straight up search I asked for lol. THANKS A LOT for doing that search. Maybe I'll talk DH into a free trial later so I can look it up. I had a Worthpoint subscription briefly, once upon a time, but wasn't happy with the limit on how many searches I could do within a certain amount of time.

Yeah, I kept having to filter saints and sinatra out of my searches. I hate it when Ebay and Google try to correct my spelling

I'd keep my pants on and continue researching.
There's also an Andrew Sinats born in '43 in latvia, lives in MN or one of those cold M states, has stuff in assorted museums that's op-art-ish and dated around '70. One that they didn't have a pic of was a $20 bill which just happens to be the first worthpoint so it jives...
For someone to be an artist in the early 70s, he's gotta be over 60 now - kinda tough to find an artist that switched to ecology that late in life when he's been successful enough to be in assorted museum collections.
Maybe your ecologist is his son. Makes more sense to me. Add andrew to your search terms
And to stop google from making variations of the word, either put it in double quotes or put a plus sign as the first letter of the word like this
+sinats
That says it must be in the search results.

Have you thought about contacting the museums that have his pieces? Ask if they have more information about the artist ... maybe they'd be interested in purchasing yours.

Thanks for the help Unknown; consider my pants firmly in place lol. Well, the piece I have looks like the work of Andrew Sinats, at least to my untrained eye. He's listed in the museum catalog as an American while the Andy S lives in Canada. Are they the same person? I don't know. But imho it's not that much of a stretch to have a young-ish artist in the 70s that, as he gets older, becomes active in a larger, more important cause. The Andy S in Canada does silkscreen printing and appears to also be a photographer.
It's sorta funny trying to do research on someone with almost no internet footprint. But since this is a public board, he could be reading this now and laughing at me and my guesses. If he is I hope he'd say "hey" or comment : )

Here's what I found when I googled andy sinats which is why I'm wondering if they're the same person.

I inherited some fine art from a cousin. White doing my research I actually contacted the artist by phone and he was wonderful. He gave me a lot of information on the piece that I have. You may try the direct route and contact him.
