So we are getting hit with a storm that started today is suppose to go through tomorrow. We can get anywhere from 12" - 20".
All yesterday and last night, my fam and the BF's fam have been whining on FB about OMG, I can't believe how many people are at the grocery store. OMG, I can't believe there closing stuff already. We live in MI, blah, blah, blah.
True we live in MI. But snow storms are generally 7". Not over a foot. I don't ever recall them calling for anything above 10" in the 20+ years I've lived here. We're also suppose to have 25 mile an hour winds. And stores are always busy before Super Bowl Sunday anyway. Which is why I went yesterday morning. To beat the crowds.
The bf has been out plowing for almost 7 hours, and the storm hasn't officially started yet. We have about 4" already. Those whiny naysayers will be the same ones whining tomorrow about being snowed in. I gave the bf a list of names to skip on his route. Or at least put them at the bottom.
Sorry, it just irritates the hell out of me. One minute they're stating 'We live in MI. We get snow.' The next, there crying on FB for someone to plow them out or blowing up the BF's phone.
I'll be staying off FB for the next few days except maybe the Mastiff and Beagle groups. Thanks for letting me vent.

I feel your pain. We got 24" earlier in the week. And we're bracing for another one to hit tonight with an estimated 6-12". I like snow, but not this much snow! Stay safe and warm. And FWIW, being from NY, my perception of Michigan was that you guys get lots of snow - meaning 7" would be a walk in the park. Who knew!

Here in Iowa we have about 10" of wet heavy snow. It rained all day yesterday then turned to snow overnight so probably ice under everything. The trees and powerlines are all weighted down. We have 4 wheel drive vehicles, but my son drove to work and said the roads were very bad. There was madness at our grocery stores yesterday too I heard. Luckily I do my shopping on Fridays and it was 40 degrees then..
DH is out clearing our drive with the snowblower.
I'm planning to stay home and take some pictures of swimsuits..

So far we are 4-5" of the light powdery snow that likes to drift. Heaviest snow fall won't be for another 3 hours or so. We had a 7" storm last year with high winds. We were snowed in for three days.
The bf came home for about an hour to eat and reload the truck with salt. He keeps sending me texts with '$$$' or 'cha ching' . I'm glad he's in good spirits but I'm nervous with him out there.

I'm in Indiana and we've been getting the heavy, wet, "heart-attack" snow. About 8" or so so far, blizzard warnings for this evening and tonight. The weather people on TV are having a field day!! And it figures that the plow would break this morning!!! We can use it but it won't angle, so we just have to plow straight. What a pain! AND the ignition went out on DH's work car yesterday and we can't get the parts to fix them until tomorrow. Brother!! Talk about a weekend from h-e-double hockey sticks!! Going back out to shovel some more. UGH!!! Can't wait for spring! (Sorry, I'm being whiny today! I used to make fun of snowbirds! Not any more!)

Stay safe, ladies in the cold country.
Thank goodness I have no frame of reference of how much snow is too much because even a chance of snow in the forecast is unheard of here.
The last snowfall we had was 20 years ago this month. Everything was totally shut down including the airport because we have no plows and usually only salt the overpasses in freezing weather. Wasn't even that much snow as I remember.
We are sunny and 71 today. Wish I could send some sun rays to you.

Partly cloudy here, but we'll get sun back tomorrow and should be in the 60's by the end of the week. No wind, which is always nice.
And in Phoenix, for the Super Bowl today….warming up to 65 and sunny. Should be nice!

No snow in East TN today. Just rain for the rest of the day. High in the upper 40's right now.

The weather people on the news programs practically orgasm when snow is predicted for Philadelphia. So this blizzard is moving through starting tonight and will continue until noon tomorrow. The local news decided to start 30 minutes earlier tomorrow morning, 4 AM instead of 4:30 AM so they can be all aflutter about snow, ice, slush, etc.
Guess what? The most recent forecast for Philadelphia is for rain rather than snow because the temps are above freezing.

Depending on which way the storm goes we're looking like 12-16" or 15-20". With the blowing snow, what's another 4"? So far we have about 7".

Wildflowers64, what part of Iowa are you in? I'm in Omaha.
We've got at least 5 inches out there. Yesterday the temp was just above freezing so it was a rain and slushy snow mix. It got colder throughout the night and the snow got more powdery. I went to scrape off my car and there is a layer of snow on top of a layer of pure ice. DBF had to work and said the road were pretty bad still. He works downtown and no streets downtown have been touched. I have to be at work at 7:45 in the morning and I'm sure I will be climbing in via the passenger side since my drivers door freezes shut, lol.
Less than a mile from here has no power though so I am counting my blessings that I am warm and toasty and can cook dinner.

I think its about time for a roadtrip south!!

I want to know who the &@$# names these storms! Linus is the nerdy blanket-hugger from Peanuts - not at all a fitting name for a menacing storm. If you ask me, "Winter Storm Lucy" would've made a lot more sense.

I live in Northern Michigan. Typically, we get the brunt of the storms. We didn't get a flake in this one.

Here in W PA, we had about 6" as of yesterday. It rained all night, so a lot is gone. But temps will drop all day and everything will be icy.

We ended up with 14" of blowing, drifting snow. The bf was out all day plowing yesterday. He's been gone since 4:30 this morning.
I went outside this morning to survey the 'damage' and wanted to cry. I can't tell where the yard ends and our driveway begins. Heck, I can't tell our yard from the fields. We have a 3-4 foot drift 20 ft long going from our walkway to the barn. I'll have to hand shovel as much as I can. We have a little kitty out in the barn I need to check on.
I hate winter.

I'm in CT and we're getting it today. For my location, they overpredicted last week's blizzard by about a foot. Now, they underpredicted this snowfall. I think we were supposed to get 6-8" and I'm pretty sure we've gotten well over a foot and it's still coming down.
Elizabeth, be careful out there. Shoveling 3-4' is outrageous.

We've had a few inches of snow last night, that turned into rain this morning that turned into freezing rain pellets early this afternoon and now back into sideways blowing snow in the last half hour. Man I'm tired of this. All on top of the 2' of snow from last week. DS (who didn't have school today) and I were shoveling 'slush' earlier so that it wouldn't freeze into a solid block of ice only to be covered by this last blast of snow. DH came home early (which means another day of no-income since he's self-employed) to finish up the slush shoveling. DS and I were supposed to go to a wake this afternoon for the father of one of his good friends. Had to bale because the roads are getting icy.
So did the groundhog see his d@%n shadow or what today!

I've been thinking of you, all4sale. Was wondering if you were getting as much snow as we are on top of the 2' you got last week. Sounds like an absolute mess around your neck of the woods. So sorry for you guys.
Snow STILL coming down here. It's crazy! At least we don't have slush and ice to deal with, though.

Yeah the slush/freezing rain/snow topping is way worse than the plain snow. It's just about stopped snowing here now, but what a mess. Since I'm accident prone , I'm worrying about going out tomorrow as I will be going into NYC for business. I can just see me slip sliding my way around. Oy. But it sounds like everyone has their share of weather woes lately. Stay safe and warm everyone!

We got another 3 inches here this morning. It took me almost 25 minutes to go less than 2 miles to work this morning. I am so ready for spring!
