I did quite well with some yarn I purchased very inexpensively while back. There is a Craigslist ad here for a large lot of new yarn along with new needles etc. The person listing it is male (I think) and has a price of $700 or a vintage nintendo w/ games. This ad has been up about a month. I've tried to examine the pictures closely and from what I can tell the items seem to be of a nice quality. This is the link: atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/art/5095260455.htmlHas anyone ever purchased this type item from Craigslist? I think his price is way too high. I was thinking $200 - $300. max. If you are open to giving me some advice, please do. Thanks

That looks like an nice lot of expensive yarns and needles but $700 is WAY too high imho, especially for resale. I haven't sold any yarn lately but wasn't impressed with the prices on completed listings that I checked last week while trying to reduce my yarn stash. $200 sounds more reasonable but I'm notoriously cheap when it comes to inventory. Maybe someone else with more experience can chime in here with their opinion. Good luck!

Retro, I too am cheap. Plus I have no business really buying any inventory. I have a huge clothing inventory that I have lost interest in. I know I need to put on my big girl panties and make myself list it. Lately I've been more interested in linens and craft items. I find myself digging through the clothes to find something else.

Because I stayed up too late watching Hoarders last night, my first thought was if the items have odors. That's quite a collection to have.

Ah Hoarders, I too watch that show. I think it may keep me in check. One thing they say is that a hoarder sees value in everything. I too can get overly involved in emptying keurig cup grounds into the compost etc. Too much of that crazy thinking and you end up being a hoarder.
I have a friend who is a quilter. They tend to have thousands of dollars of 'just in case' material. This knitter probably had that mind set.
Speaking of the odors. Several years ago we lived in the mountains. I volunteered at a thrift store. I got into the habit of sniffing items. You would not believe how horrible some items smelled. When thrifting I still give items the smell test. You would not believe the looks I get from people.

Hi my name is sunsetpainter and I am a yarn hoarder! lol
I knit and crochet and I save every last bit of yarn. "Someday" I may need them! It's funny that I don't have a problem throwing anything out EXCEPT for yarn, oh and packing material. But I wouldn't pay that much for it. I'm cheap too! (BFF calls it being frugal! lol)

Some yarn stashes are epic.. mine would raise eyebrows but I've seen worse lol. Quilter stashes are like that too. Thank God I stopped quilting years ago when it quality cotton got so expensive! I've purged my stash before but knowing the cost of yarn, I hate to get rid of perfectly good wool & cottons when I have room to store it and I DO still kinit & crochet.
Hoarder... I hate the "H" word. I've seen it applied by minimalists to anyone that has a collection or hasn't tidied the bookshelves. Way overused imho.

Way too high. I listed a ton of yarn recently that was donated to me for a breast cancer survivor project. Got all of the yarn and ACS ended the project. I will give the proceeds back to the ACS.
I am selling each skein for about $8 with free shipping. I am selling slowly..... But even at that price it sure isn't flying out the door.

I sent an email to the person to see if they still have it. No response yet. Possibly they sold and forgot to take the ad down or lost interest in selling it.

Emptying the grounds into the compost isn't hoarding. Saving all the empty little plastic cups because "someone might be able to do something with these someday" is.
