I am so sad to say that my maltese Lulu who was 13 had to be put to sleep this morning. She's been a tough dog to deal with all these but she was my buddy. She had dementia and congestive heart failure. I saw she was fading the last two weeks. We decided it was time to just let her go.
I have been a wreck today. Worried about Bubba who is my 6 year old chin mix. They have done everything together. He looks so out of sorts. My heart is so so heavy. Please send me a prayer and a hug.
I am now almost 67 so I suppose I'm getting too old for another dog and that upsets me too.
Bad day at Black Rock!!!!

So sorry for your loss, roy.
Don't let your age keep you from helping another dog.
I am older than you are and as we all can see, I haven't turned any cats away recently.
When you are ready, maybe look for an older dog that needs a home because everybody else wants a puppy.

I'm so sorry. What you've just been through is really tough - we've all been there. I hope that you can focus on the happy times and what a great home you were able to give Lulu.

I'm so sorry. And I agree with Kritter, when you're ready, look for an older dog.

I just took Bubba outside to play a little and he keeps looking for her. I have a big lump in my throat and tears in my eyes.
I am actually now doing my online grocery shopping and crying because I always bought Lulu a pound of liverwurst for her pills each week. They are my buddies as Mike works tons of hours. I feel so sad and lost.

(((Roy))) You did the last act of love for Lulu helping her on her way. It's like a big hole gets ripped into our lives, though.
I think when you're ready, a fine older dog will appear and adopt you and Bubba. There are so many wonderful older dogs who would love the kind of home you can give them, who are healthy and active.

((((((roy)))))) & ((((bubba)))) I'm sorry you had to make that decision, but it was the right one. As for 67 being too old for another dog - stuff that thought, roy. My mom was 82 when she got her current dog. Please - 67 is young. When you're ready for a new member in the family, they'll pick you.

Roy, I am so very, very sorry for your loss! I know how it's the little things in the first few weeks that are the hardest. Over time, I wish you nothing but happy memories of Lulu. Bubba will adjust, it will just take some time. Big hugs to you both!

I'm so sorry about Lulu, it's always so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet. But you did the right thing. And Bubba will recover - you both just need some time to grieve together.
I also think adopting an older dog is a great idea, when you're ready for it.

I'm so sorry you lost Lulu. You're not too old for another dog. When you're ready the shelters have a lot of dogs that would be calm in their forever home.

Roy so sorry about Lulu. But I hear you on the age thing and a new dog. Bubba will be OK after awhile.
My Rusty was upset too when I lost Boomer as they were best pals, but he's come around and adjusted OK.
It's always a sad time that only time can heal.

I think I'm in a bad portion right now. Jen brought her Jack over last night and Bubba snubbed him. He goes outside, runs down and does his business and right back in. We have a big yard and he always like to run around and bark at the fence. But not since his sister is gone.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is such a hard goodbye, and yes, those first few weeks are the hardest.
Maybe try a new walk or play routine with Bubba to mix things up and make a new tradition for just the two of you. You and Bubba take care of each other. It will get easier.

Take care Roy, and love your Bubba up. It takes time to get through the grieving process. Our pets also grieve a lost furry friend. A rescue in need of love and affection will find you when you "ready". That is always how we have gotten our beloved kitteh's.
