I thought I would start a thread here so it is not so lonely.
My vies on my siste are low. Very low.
I knew this was going to be difficult and that I have to keep adding more and more items. But some days it is very discouraging.
Then I read the boards, or auction bytes and remember why I am doing this.

I hope it takes off for you, Mup, because I can only imagine the work that you have put into it.

Have you set up the background stuff - I don't remember what it is - meta tags and stuff like that? And has your store been open long enough yet to have been uploaded to the various shopping sites? Or do you need the more expensive plan for BC to do that?

I went with the $75 a month plan so I could have Google shopping uploads. I have had a few people come in from Yahoo bu I am not paying Bing. Mostly it is from Facebook and Twitter. Oh and the boards. LOL
It will come. I know it. But I dont have enough listed there yet. In the mean time I am still listing on Ebay because I need to make some money. LOL

If it makes you feel any better, I'll probably be joining you there in the next month or two. I want to open a tie & scarf store, to test the off-eBay waters. That one I'll open on Big Commerce. Simple to list products, figured they'd be good to learn the ins/outs of BC. I've decided this year to bulk up on the eBay listings (I have the inventory, LOL) and use those sales to market to another off eBay store for the plus size. Not sure where I'll start that one, but the goal is to have it by early fall - September at the latest.

What is your Twitter account? I don't think I have you added?
I can't remember, but someone started a thread on the other forum about Twitter but I just didn't answer it. Was it you?
I am a firm believer that Twitter is an investment. It won't show immediate results, but if done right (at least, the way I think is right?) it is great free advertising-advertising specials.
I've been at it about 3 months and am at almost 700 followers. I think somewhere around 1K-2K, you will get more true, dedicated followers that can lead to sales. I know my eBay items have gotten a lot more views since starting to Tweet.

DUH! I see where we are following each other.
Is your profile public? I see you are following over 700, and only have 200 and some followers. I think in order to get your stuff retweeted, you will have to retweet other sellers items for them to retweet you back. That may be why you're not getting many followers.
And I don't know why, but your tweets aren't showing up in my twitter feeds.

Sorry, I hit post too soon.
Make use of the characters you are given when you tweet. All I'm seeing is a link and 1 hashtag.
Maybe for now, make and pin a tweet to stick on the top of your Twitter feed. Something along the lines of:
GRAND OPENING! Visit my store for great #fashions ((insert link to store)) Add 4 pictures
When you tweet your item, write a small sentence with hashtags.
Make sure you are tweeting from your newsfeed of those you follow. They will more than likely retweet your items also. I don't just retweet those that tweet me. BUT, I unfollow those that refuse to retweet me.
I don't know if any of this is the "golden rule for Twitter for sellers" but it's kind of working for me for now. I do learn something new nearly every week tho, and I'll try and incorporate the learnings into my Tweets to make them better.

Hey Liz, when you have time, why not start a discussion about using Twitter? I think a lot of us probably aren't familiar with it and just do the basics on it.

You bet.
I am by no means a Twitter expert, but I can get a good discussion going and we can all throw around some ideas and I can answer whatever questions anyone has.
I will see if I have time tonight or tomorrow night.

There used to be websites where you could post links to items you're selling. I looked for the links, but can't find them right now. Liz, your avatar intimidates me.

I do retweet several times a week. Not sure why I am not getting more followers than I am. I need a Twitter 101 I think.
I had no idea that I could pin a tweet.

Retweeting others needs to happen several times per DAY. Probably 100. But it's easy to retweet your followers. When someone tweets you, retweet them back. Tweet at least 10 of your items a day. Maybe 5 in the morning and 5 in the evening. To pin a tweet to the top of your page (so others can easily find an original tweet to retweet) look at the 3 little dots under your picture. Click it, and it should give you the option to "pin to profile" or something like that. OK, I promise, I'll start a thread. Probably later tonight. I'm just hiding out in my office so the people in this house will quit begging me for something called dinner. UGH! *and I mean the people in MY house. Not my work house

LOL! My avatar chic is pretty badazz, isn't she? Yes, she is. When I first saw it on another thread, I wouldn't have guessed it was you if I hadn't seen your name.

Yeah, it would be awesome to have a dedicated twitter or social media in general area. I'm with Mup... hearing crickets at my store too. We're all gonna need to tweet, pin, instagram or something else to drive traffic. That's the way of the web now; no matter where we sell we've gotta figure out how to promote it.
I hadn't been on twitter for about a year... OMG it's all advertising! Is there still supposed to be relationship building? Cause I didn't see more than a few "real people" tweets in my stream.

I posted a link (I hope I did it right and it's a link) to an article about how to boost your visibility in Cassini in the eBay section. I did a little test on some of my jewelry with some of the recommendations. I know some are old or not applicable or acceptable to many of us, but there were one or two things I didn't know that I may adopt about getting a bump in placement.
Hope things look up soon for you mup --and for all.
