Are you sure they weren't filming a sequel to Northern Exposure?

I have lived in colorado nearly all my life and have never got to see a moose. All I had to do was go shopping apparently! LOL I've seen them at RMNP several times, but at a further distance. We also had a little one who moved into the city & stayed for a month or so down here, years ago. It was around Xmas, so Chris Moose, I would go see every day & photograph. He got to within 10 feet of people one day when I was watching him. Very cool, but then some people tried to pet him (yes, really) & I began getting very concerned for his safety. He eventually wandered off. There was one in Parker last year in neighborhoods too. These young 'uns kinda get lost sometimes. The place to see them is RMNP on the Grand Lake entrance side, which most people think of as the "exit" to the park.

Always wanted to see a moose in the wild, but I haven't yet.
Did see a wild turkey flying for the first time this evening when we were driving home from dinner. They're often milling around in groups (a rafter?...just looked that one up), but I've never seen one fly.

We are able to see moose when we are in Alaska at my aunt's home - the house is off the road and surrounded by woods. I looked out one morning and one was walking up the driveway, he had the big antlers - I got all excited. We've seen them several times on the roadsides too up there. It was so strange seeing them the first few times, now it's like seeing the deer around here.
Terri - we have wild turkeys here, don't think I've seen them fly either, but have seen them sort of jump and fly along the ground. They strut through here in a line all the time.

How cool that you've visited Alaska and seen the moose wandering around, desire. I've never been to Alaska, but would love to go there.
This turkey was legit up in the air flying. It was on the right side of the street and as we were approaching, it took off up in the air and flew over our car.

I have lived in colorado nearly all my life and have never got to see a moose. All I had to do was go shopping apparently! LOL I took my niece up Bierstadt for her first 14'er. On our way down we were rewarded with a Moose family swimming in the lake. A man and his son were snapping photos and going off the path. They were getting closer - closer - closer, and that's when I grabbed my niece to get out of there. I wasn't feeling too altruistic. Really didn't want to help them fend off a charging Moose. Did warn them... Love the Moose going down Pearl Street. Maybe he was looking for some good food.

So we climb 14ers on the weekends :-) People 'bag' 14ers, etc. Well, some of us do.

Where people hike that there is so little oxygen that trees dont even grow. That is called "above treeline". It is actually quite a feat to be able to do and most people have to condition themselves to do it.

There is disdain shown for this from the mountaineering set. I figure, whatever makes you happy. As much as I love the mountains, I don't want to spend a lot of time doing the mountaineering thing. I enjoy reaching the goal and then I'm done with it.
