Pros and cons? I have always used USPS but lately have seen the large package pricing at eBay. My one issue is that the buyer only sees the label cost for eBay shipping which does not include the insurance total cost or does the buyer get some notification about the package being insured?
i wouldn't insure but I ship mainly bags over $200 and had a bag go off the grid the one time I had decided maybe to forgo insurance.

I use Insurepost.com. Part of Shipsurance but the site is for single insurance orders not on a bulk rate contract. You can insure for full cost including the postage. Depending on type of shipping used, you can add the insurance up to a day or two after you ship even.

I use the one on ebay - ship-saver insurance - it has all your sales listed and you just check off which one you want to insure. And it's way cheaper than the USPS insurance rates.
Can you use stealth shipping if your labels are showing the cost? Also, I think the label will say INSURED right on it when you insure through USPS.

I had just the opposite happen! I had a heavier package going to the West coast. Shipping on listing was 5.50 but it cost me 8.50 or something like that. So I didn't use stealth to show the buyer she was getting a deal on the shipping. But she dinged my shipping star. When I wrote to ask about it and tell her it cost me a lot more than she was charged, she said that's fine but she felt the 8.50 was just too high of a shipping cost to begin with so she rated it accordingly. I was so pizzled!

Did you tell her to write the USPS about it and leave your stars alone?
What a dimwit.

Amazing how honesty has a way of backfiring. What a B... I had a Dr. win an auction last year on a very heavy, collectible stoneware travel mug. He was the lone bidder (I listed in "wrong" category) and he got a great deal! But after the auction ended, he questioned the postage of $9 and tried haggling. It was going RR Priority...I allowed for the 10% eBay up-charge and told him so, after sending him the link to the USPS website showing the cost. I think I made a whole dime off the shipping and he finally accepted the fact I didn't make the cost up. He had hundreds of purchases to his credit, so I'm guessing he was trying to finagle because I was so new. He also didn't leave any FB. PfffffffT Get a clue: even the big retailers using UPS and FedEx use stealth shipping.

This has nothing to do with my post but one of the Fostoria glasses I shipped broke in transit. $16. I had insured it thru USPS. Filed a claim last week and got the check today. I refunded the buyer myself and filed the claim that day.

I ship large packages. I am afraid if I use stealth I will get dinged something terrible I thought that was corrected every so often when eBay resets the shipping - I get dings sometimes and the star gets reset to 5 again. I can't be responsible for buyers' ignorance - I charge what I charge and use stealth shipping unless it costs more. I don't track that star at all. Hopefully there aren't too many buyers like the idiot that Desire got. Good GAWD!
