In the future don't use the drop off bin.
Take them to the counter and stand there until they scan them. Sometimes that is the only way to get a lazy PO to do their job.
As to your stupid buyer, she said: Honestly if it's not to me in the time it was promised then I'll have to at least open the claim with PayPal/eBay so that I'm protected should it not get to me.
You might want to email her and clue her in that there is no rule that she has to open a claim on the day ebay said the item was to be delivered. That she has 30 days (or is it now 60?) to file a claim that it hasn't been received.

Oh, that is going to be difficult for me I wonder if I should call my local post office and ask about them not scanning them? This has NEVER been a problem before, it literally started in the last 1 to 2 weeks. I haven't responded to the buyer because now I hate her, lol.

Yeah it's a pain.
But if that is the only way to get them scanned then it's worth it.
I would do it at least once, and question them then on why they haven't scanned things put in the box. It's harder for them to make stuff up and try to get out of it when you are right in front of them looking them in the eye.
Posts like yours make me very glad I have a great PO.

I would simply educate her that she has 60 days to file & that EBay's delivery dates are an estimate & none of us, including Ebay control the USPS.
I'd never wait in line for a scan. I'd quit Ebay before I did that. So I guess if I were you, I'd find a different box to drop them at.

Ok, I will message her that info, but I don't think she cares It's a bathing suit and she's made it clear she wanted it for vacation next week. I called my local p.o. They said they don't know why they weren't scanned and I should call back around 8 in the morning. They did scan in one that I dropped yesterday. The two I shipped this morning have not yet been scanned and so I asked about it. I was told that they scan them as they are going on the truck? That it would be a bit later today, I guess I'll keep on checking. I've rarely had problems with my post office, I'm not sure what's happening the last couple of weeks. Transportation is an issue for me during the day, this post office is really the only convenient one. I appreciate the help! PS I just saw she is a seller!! So she KNOWS she has 60 days and she knows ebay sets the delivery dates!

What a tool! If she's a seller, what possible good does she think it's going to do to open a cased today or tomorrow?

Sometimes I can move a package by ordering multiple email updates from the USPS website.
I put my problem message to USPS in the first and last NAME fields for no scan or delayed packages or wrong sorting center... such as...
WhereIS Scan HELPsend ToTexas HELPno TRACKING HELPhelp HELPhelpHELP
And I do this several times in a row when there is a problem. I heard there is an EXCEPTION report generated at USPS when there are multiple inquiries on a tracking number. I had a package in the wrong state sorting center and a nervous buyer. So I sent 8 email requests in one day and 5 requests the next day... and I got a tracking by the end of the 2nd day.
I have been doing this for a couple of years. It is better than getting low ratings.

I really dislike when people use the term "promised" in regards to delivery date. Neither I nor Ebay promise anything regarding dates - an "estimate" is given and I point that out to them (nicely of course.)

Well her package ended up showing tracking in Oklahoma on 6/10. Of all things it was going from Houston to Dallas!! Via Oklhoma??!! It did finally end up delivered on Friday and she did send me a message saying I was correct about the post office (I had let her know they closed many sorting centers in January and it was slowing things down a lot)and she had gotten it just in time for her vacation. She did not open a case but I am guessing ebay wouldn't let her that early?
Someone from my post office called me yesterday. Apparently they are short on clerks right now, and this is supposed to be a temporary thing to be resolved as quickly as possible. I can either knock at the door (they are there before the main lobby opens) and wait in line for a scan, order pickup (often I only have first class, though) go to another post office, or just wait it out. I am going to try and wait it out, depending on how many people fuss. Personally when I buy something I usually check the tracking in about a week if it hasn't arrived. Most of mine seem to be getting scanned at the next stop in Houston one day after I drop them, but some not until they leave the state. Ugh.

I don't know if you realized it but you can now ask for a pick up at your home if you only have first class. All last year I dropped at the PO. The closest one is a sorting facility only. I would have to go in knock on a door and wait for someone to come. They would just throw the package in a big bin. I never had a problem but figured I was wasting both gas and time. The last few months I've been scheduling a pickup and it has worked perfectly.

I wish I could count on home pickup here. Worked great until they got new relief route persons on both routes I use (home & office). They started scanning delivered instead of pickup, they'd not pickup and close the pickup order out as picked up, they'd pickup but not scan….I'm back to dropping off in a blue box. There's usually one on the way to just about anywhere I go.

I asked the woman who phoned me Saturday about that and she said only if I had priority going out, that they wouldn't pick up just first class?

Oh good, I'm not going crazy then. Thanks!
Used to be, they would not pickup for just domestic FC - you had to have a Priority or Express in the batch. They would pick up for FCI though.
I don't know if that has changed or not.

I go to the USPS website and schedule it. Seems like the request would reject if only FC wasn't an option. I had one today and was outside when the mail lady came and she didn't complain.

Val, I didn't know and was a bit skeptical, too. But, the FC block with the ? now shows FC pickup requests must be Commercial Base or Commercial Base Plus...whereas it used to state that FC would only be picked up via scheduled request if there was Priority or Priority Express to go with it. A very good thing, for some of us...

If you schedule a pickup and the package(s) will fit in your mailbox, can you just leave them in there?

There's a drop down box at USPS to select where to find pkg... mailbox may be an option. I've only ever done that one time with a cheap FC pkg; I always request "knock or ring bell."
