I put the fact that I sold the crazy wonderful carved horse heads on the woo hoo thread. Anyway I finially got them packed and ready to go. I had put in the listing that I would mail priority. The box weighs 13lbs.
When I look on the USPS website I check that it's a large box 18" X 15" X 15". The USPS discounted online price is 22.78.
When I calculate the postage on eBay, I don't see a place to put in dimensions. I check off large package and the price is 7.21. While I love the difference in price I want to make sure that I'm doing this correctly so that the package gets there without issues.
Help and guidance is appreciated.
Thanks

In the eBay shipping window, pick the method you want (large package), then click on the blue link "change weight and dimensions" under package weight.
A popup window will open that has the area where you can set package dimensions.

Wow good to know that's there. I just entered it and postage is still coming up 7.21. This is strange because I just sent a package that was just over a pound priority and was charged a higher rate. I even went back to make sure I had not entered the weight as 1lb 3oz in error.
Would you just go with it and be thankful or question further.

Well I've decided to go for it. Printed the label and it does show 13lbs priority and postage paid. I figure I shouldn't kick a gift horse in the mouth. Pardon the pun.

How far is it going from you? I've had some fairly nice surprises when shipping heavy stuff PM when the destination is close to me.

Probably an oversize pkg, not a "large" pkg. IDK for sure tho, as I don't recall the cutoff dimensions. Double check that it isn't oversized. I believe it is.

Traveling from Atlanta GA to Texas USPS is $22.78. I put the dimensions in. I guess I will hold my breath and check on it all the way through.

Personally, I'd void the original label and print a new one with the correct postage amount. So far for me, the cheapest calculated counter rate via eBay for 2-lbs going a short distance was $7.05 for a large pkg...Tyvek or shoe box.

Yes I think the issue is you are selecting large package when it should be oversized. Double check the requirements but that is probably where the discrepancy is coming in. Personally I would try that and void the first one if necessary. I wouldn't just ship and hope for the best since the buyer could get slammed with a insufficient postage fee.

Changing the weight & dimensions can be tricky. It often reverts to the original. You have to change something on the original screen, then click "change dimensions". After changing dimensions, etc. you must calculate & save. Then it may work.
I had to change one yesterday. It was a first class package and I only had to change the number of ounces but I still had to go through the process 3 times before I got the order of entries correct so it didn't revert to the original weight.
