Holy smokes, the crowd at Belmont must be going nuts! The news was filled today with reports of having to wait 2-3 hours just to leave the racetrack once this race was over. I'm sure glad I'm not driving past there today (it's sort of in my neck of the woods).

I just watched it. Nice run and a beautiful horse.
I do not follow horse racing anymore. I was only 9 years old and till then LOVED and watched every horse race I could. The race that ended me following horse racing was the breakdown of Ruffian...IMHO the best racing horse ever. No matter she was a filly that girl could run.
I loved Man o War, Secretariat and Seabiscuit...with only pictures, stories and the odd tv video clip back then of man o war and Seabiscuit. I remember seeing Secretariat racing and falling in love but when Ruffian came on the scene a couple years later IMHO NO HORSE ever was as awesome as she was. When she had to be put down I stopped watching any type of horse racing. Odd how almost 40 years later that still holds with me and I can not watch a race without thinking of that magnificent, wonderful filly.

I didn't realize there were only 5 horses in the race when Secretariat won the 3rd race.

Yay...I think. Hey, it could be worse. At least it didn't mention the Kardashians, Liberal/Conservative, or Obamacare. Just a horse runnin' around.

Harley, I have a love/hate with it too. I really only every watch the Triple Crown races, but a few years ago a filly also had to be put down on the track and it was heartbreaking.
