Back when I was a kid, all those many years ago, every year at VD you bought these little boxes of mini VD cards, that had abt 20 or 30 cards in them & you basically exchanged them with your entire class. Do you guys know what I mean? Do they still do that? Do they still make the boxes of cards?
I thought it was a weird custom then & I'm guessing it's died off, but I wanted a box of those old style little cards.

Still alive and well! My youngest just started middle school, so we are finally past them. You should be able to find them pretty much anywhere - Target, Wmart, Drug stores, Dollar stores, Craft stores, etc...

of course they DO!
still as cheesy and goofy as they were back then...in any number of characters, with or without candy, and fancy embellished ones--SOME even have that little white, square envelope included.
weirdly, the goodwill was loaded with them last time I was there-no idea how much they are, but I doubt they are all that expensive at retail.

Yup, I've been seeing them everywhere. I think my youngest Lucas (4th grade) is the only one left that does it. I haven't asked him if he needs any this year or not.

Hmmm. Ok, thanks guys. I have looked at both Target & I even went to the dreaded WM today & neither had any. Neither did Big Lots. Am I looking in the wrong area? I thought they'd be with the cards. I don't mind paying retail, I assume they are only $1-2.

nah, not with the greeting cards--with the "seasonal stuff"--the heart candy boxes, the doodads, the valentines crap....
so yep, wrong place. there is no way any of those places are sold out already, and there is probably a freaking aisle of them.

Ok, back to Wallyworld I go LOL. I'm glad I asked. It's been a long time since elementary school for me, so I thought maybe the custom was gone. I always thought it was weird. Kinda like I can't even stand 1/2 these people, why would I give them ANY card, much less a 'sweetheart' type card.
Thank you all!

The local Target stores have a big section with all the Valentine stuff wayyyy in the back corner. Walgreen's has them much closer to the door if you don't want to walk so much

Our GW always has a ton of new, seasonal stuff - wrapping paper at Christmas, Halloween doo-dads in October etc. They buy it somewhere to resell.

ours had odd characters/themes (but they did have an awesome one that physically turned into a ring!) so I don't think they bought these--probably NOS from a retail donation that they held for in season.
the oddness of them was actually what caught my eye since I always had the kid who was into some weird thing and NEEDED some hard to find valentine (apply that to any holiday/any gift).
but knowing my GW, they were probably $9.99 a box

Found them! Thanks everyone! Wallyworld had a whole aisle, once you know where to look. And I managed to get out without any candy. I may have a look at Target too, I really want old school ones, as they are for someone my age & WM's were mostly popular current characters & movies.
ETA: I am secretly in love with this Monster High stuff. IDK what it is, but if I were a teenage girl, I'd be all over that.

My Granddaughter loves Monster High, my kids don't like it though. Some of their stuff is really cute.

I will have to rack my brain a bit, but I was just in a store in the last 2 weeks and they had "throwback" vintage look valentines cards with a 70's look. I'll let you know if I remember where.

Doh! I am so glad you posted this. I have vintage ones to get listed. If I can find them. They are leftovers from when I was a kid!

Argghh, I just saw this & of course it's too late to buy them & get them here on time. Did you list them Christie, can you PM me? Better late than never, if I can't find any.
Sorry to bump this, but wondering if anyone remembered where they saw retro ones? Yesterday I went to Target, Hallmark & Walgreens & no one had retro. Walgreens had something they 'called' retro, but they were peace signs & stuff like that. They didn't look like the ones we had when we were little. I have also checked WM.

I actually bought some lacy, old-fashioned looking ones (small) at Dollar Tree a few years ago. Also maybe Hobby Lobby or a craft-type store.

LOL, no it never would have occurred to me to check CL for VD cards. For VD maybe. But not for VD cards LOL. Denver is an hour away though & IDK that I have the patience for CL even if it was local, but thanks for looking. Who knew!
I will check out Dollar Tree & Hobby Lobby, I have not looked there, thanks!
