Totally useless trivia - I recognized the town name in that article from somewhere and hunted it down….the town in the TV show "Northern Exposure" was patterned on Talkeetna  |

I've been to Talkeetna actually!  Doing the drive between Anchorage and Fairbanks. It's tiny but cute with a few good places to get food and lots of river retailed tourist things going on. Had I known about Stubbs back in 2003 I would have been on a search to meet the mayor.  |

We have a town not too far away that has a dog Mayor.
Um, well, I went to post a link & now I see that there must have been a new election, the Mayor is now Monster the Cat, if you scroll to the bottom. It used to be a Golden Retriever.

I have always said that my cats could do a better job than 99% of the pols in office Oh hells, we could elect one of the racoons that's always knocking over trash cans around here and it would do a better job than the mayor we've got now. "He meowed and meowed and meowed and demanded to be picked up and put on the counter. And he demanded to be taken away from the tourists.
