Just went out to feed the fish. One of my two tiered planters was knocked down. All of my petunia blooms and straw flowers blooms were eaten.
Mr Groundhog is about to go in the Cage for relocating!!!!!

Well heck, that sucks. I like critters, but not in my yard eating my stuff. Do you ever get racoons going after the fish?

No Shirley, as pond is deep. Same with Herons, we get a lot but they have to stand to eat. Fish are smarter than you think. They get scared and all go under the bridge - heron cannot stand there. We live by the Delaware River and also get Osprey. Those can dive and eat.
We have so many darn critters that it is a battle every summer. We have a "heart" trap. Doesn't hurt the animals so Mike relocates.
When I get done planting I will take a picture of the pond. We have some Koi over 20 years old that are 3 feet or better. Also have goldfish that neighborhood kids win at fair and put in "Big Mike's " pond. In the beginning they go into the top pond so koi won't eat them. But eventually they go over the waterfall and manage to survive. We also have a 20 year old black catfish from the river. They are so friendly you wouldn't believe it.
At night I treat them to Honey Nut Cheerios. As soon as they see me coming with the bag they go crazy. Sorry I wrote so much!

You need to post pics of that, it sounds wonderful.
I'm in the land of no water, so no ponds here, but I love how they look.

I too would love to see the pond pictures. I recently put some small koi in our pond. Haven't seen them since. I hope they are hiding and haven't been eaten. I saw a snake laying in wait and gave him a big whack with a stick. He swam away but probably came back.

I'd love to see some pond pics! We have 2, a small free-standing one on our deck and a larger, deeper one in-ground. It's not really all that big...maybe about 4' x 6' or so, 3' deep. We had some koi but they got too big for these ponds so I gave them to my BFF who has a really big pond. They are much happier there. When the flowers start blooming, I'll post some pics.

I have a tiny tiny pond here. Gave up on the fish because I got tired of feeding the racoons fresh seafood. I put plants in it this year - some water lilies and other floating plants. I find it relaxing to sit by (if I can keep my hands out of it working on it).

I'm afraid a pond would attract too many snakes here. Already battle the copperheads all summer, would hate to encourage them. Had to take out all our wood mulch because they loved it too much. They don't like the rubber mulch.
Definitely post pics, sounds like a great set up.

I am in GA and yes we do have a problem with copperheads. We live in a very wooded area with both field ponds and streams. This is their habitat and I guess we are the intruder.
