when more clothes are the last thing you need? I just seem to keep adding and adding. It's not like it sounds, I'm not out there compulsively buying for myself, but it seems like every trip or two that's supposed to be for inventory, I end up with something for myself. Or I'm taking something that hasn't sold and putting it in my closet. And then I look through the boardie stores and I see stuff I like. All the while the voice of reason in me is saying "Where are you going to PUT them?" My closet is so stuffed that I've got stuff in boxes on the closet floor that I don't have room to hang.

I have really been feeling the allure of selling clothes again...I'm trying to fight it as much as I can.

Yep. But I have a rule that for every item I buy for myself personally, I have to pull something from my closet to sell on eBay. The only exceptions I allow are shoes (which I don't sell) and around the house stuff like $2 sweatshirts. The other thing I've noticed is the tidier the house is, the less likely I am to go shopping for me. If the house is a mess, I don't want to go home and I go shopping instead.

It's an occupational hazard. Some I never wear and end up listing in 6 mths. Sometimes I go through and get rid of some of my older stuff. Sometimes I get my act together and actually start wearing some of the cute stuff I have.

yep. in the process of clearing out a ridiculous amount of stuff from my own closet. these days, I literally wear maybe 3 outfits--I do laundry constantly so I pretty much wear what I just folded, instead of putting it away . I don't really go anywhere so comfort is key. but i'm FAMOUS for "just in case" clothing--I currently have 2 citiknits outfit, 1 paillette dress, 1 evening gown, and assorted other goodies..."just in case". unless the queen invites me for dinner tomorrow, i'm pretty sure I can part with them.

Me too. I tell myself I'll see if I like it and if I don't, I will list it, so nothing lost.

Since I wear plus size, usually wear only dresses and am really fussy about the style of those dresses I buy whenever I find them on eBay. My favorites are by Silhouette and can be worn sleeveless or as a jumper. Sadly Silhouettes is out of business so I have been buying whenever the style is listed. This is why I have 3 in brown, 2 in wine and 2 in teal. I have searches set up and am notified whenever something new is listed.

I loved Silhouettes! You're right, they had great dresses and I was addicted to their "cotton cashmere" sweaters. Now I have to get Ulla Popken dresses. Sigh.

Ulla Popken has a similar style to the Silhouettes dress and it's better made. But it's only available in 3 colors. It is also a saved search so I get emails. If I couldn't score them on eBay for less than the catalog prices I probably wouldn't buy Ulla Popken.

I have had issues for years with aspirational acquisition. I rarely buy anything for myself anymore, but I have a tendency to purchase for the size I want to be or the life I want to be living. Even when I am not overweight, I used to buy for a taller thinner me instead of the one that actually existed.

You fold your laundry? I just pull something out of the basket and put it on.

I also tend to wear the same few things. I have gotten rid of a LOT of clothing and need to get rid of even more. I used to love to buy clothing and bought a lot. Now, I just buy every now and then, but I tend to buy nicer things that are of a higher quality and are classic pieces so they last longer.

This made me laugh! I was just thinking about this. I have the very bad habit of throwing my clothing all over like a teenager and think a lot of it comes from my stuffed drawers and closet. BUT today while cleaning up the nightmare, I did pull out some stuff today to sell rather than keep that should net me around 200.00. So the bonus is you can always enjoy stuff and then sell it.

I am a Chico's queen.
I don't know why I punish myself to buy it...I pull it off the rack....put it back on the rack....nahhhh it's a Size 3, if it doesn't sell, I will wear it.
Guess what, my closet is overflowing with Chico's tops and t-shirts. I will never part with what I call "My Dead Presidents Shirt". A commemorative patriotic tee that's probably at least 10 years old.

Count me in on the limited wardrobe club. It's just been the past 6 years or so that I decided to go with "less is better" and limit what I wear to just a few basic lounging pants/T-shirts and sweaters. I wear nice jeans or dress pants on my few occasional outings. But out of the many hundreds of inventory items, I've only found a total of about 6 super nice things to keep.
SO is definitely another story, though. He's lost over 30 lbs due to illness and basically has a brand new wardrobe now because he loves to "inventory" shop with me. Uh, huh. And IF I could knock off 20 lbs, I'd be having to shop for myself, too.

I have a hard time finding stuff for myself. I'm pretty picky.

I am also a Chicos addict. I live in black and white with some reds. And mostly solids with some check shirts or stripes. I can't remember the last time I wore a print. If I am not wearing Travelers I wear black leggings and shirts and sweaters. I know so boring. Every now and then I get something different " because it's so cute" but then when it comes time to choose something to wear it's always black & white. I just got this pink & black polka dot long shirt that is so cute but deep down I know that it is not me. It will probably lay in my closet and eventually find it's way onto Ebay. I want to change but as I said in previous posts, I hate change.
