I can't find another one like it on eBay, it is a little flounder dish, imprinted with "Japan" on the back. Measures about 2 1/4" across. My first thought was that it was a gum saver, but the gum savers I see on eBay are shaped like hands or cats.

Does it have a little indentation where liquid would gather? If so it's a tea bag holder. Of course, I didn't know there was such a thing as a gum saver.

It isn't big enough to hold a tea bag, and the way it is shaped, it won't hold liquid.

Isn't it a chopstick rest? That's my first reaction, but I'm no expert.

That's what I thought. Fish are a common theme for chop stick rests. Count me among those who has never heard of a gum saver. Also, am I the only one who finds that gross?

There has to be gum savers, cause you know gum is so dang expensive that you need to chew it at least 2 or 3 times to get your money out of it.

I have trouble chewing gum because I want to swallow it. It has become a joke with DH and I if he gives me piece of gum he has to check in every few minutes to make sure I still have it. He said it is like dealing with a frickin 4 year old, lol and wishes I would just stick to hard candy.

I never heard of a gum saver either - I would just get a new piece, but I guess there is a market for everything.
I second the chopstick rest, thats what it looks like to me. It could also be for serving wasabi paste.

That's like the gum wall in Seattle. I found it by accident and was really repulsed. Ewwww, I don't even like thinking about it - gives me the creeps.

I agree a headboard or bed post was a gum saver growing up LOL I can't handle chewing gum anymore, don't know why but the whole texture of it just icks me out. Now if I chew a piece it's for a minute then it's in the trash so I don't even bother.

That's because you're not a 9 year old boy! Years ago I bought an antique school desk. Has some graffiti inside the lift up top, and yep, antique gum stuck to the bottom.

My mother told me that it would take 7 years to digest, would make a glob in my belly, and then make me sick. I was a stubborn child, and wanted to prove her wrong. So far, so good!
