May the Fourth be with you.
Are you a Star Wars fan? The original movie came out in 1977, which was the year after I graduated from high school. I remember seeing it in the theater. While I enjoyed it, I never watched any of the others. Being the progeny of a father who's an engineer, I think my mind is too logical to enjoy fantasy. Not a Harry Potter fan either, although all three of my kids are fans of both Star Wars and Harry Potter.
Sold three things over the weekend and another about a half hour ago, so I'll have four things to pack up this morning. Listed some more of my shoe inventory yesterday and plan on hitting that again today.
What are you up to?

Not a fan of anything that is fantasy.
Gorgeous day, but have to go for nasty chemo butt shots this afternoon. So no use going out to do yard work and getting dirty.
Did go through my closet to move back the winter stuff and summer stuff front and center. I have way too many tops and need to take the time someday to really clear it all out.
Will try to stuff 7 packages into my mailbox this morning. Have 165 relists to do and will really try to do some listing.

I first saw Star Wars at a drive in, with a pickup load of nieces and nephews. Didn't get to see much of the movie cause I had to corral that crazy bunch so it didn't make that big of impression on me. By the time Return of the Jedi came out in 83 my son was old enough to be into sci fi and we both got hooked. To the point that we had an entire bedroom full of SW stuff and a closet full of NIB items. Yes, I was that geeky. Later on when he went to college we sold off that collection, on ebay of course, and it helped pay for his college costs. He still has some of the real gem pieces and I doubt if he will ever get rid of them. He is a total fan for life and has even gone to some of the conventions. Another gorgeous day here, have already watered the garden and harvested more cilantro as it was getting leggy. Cherry tomato plant has lots of flowers so I will have fresh tomatoes soon, yippee! Thought briefly about doing some ebay stuff today but I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon this afternoon so that went out the door. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Not into fantasy movies much either. Not much on my to do list today, just hangin at home. Need to list some stuff but I might watch TV for a little while first. Coloring my hair later this afternoon, I made an appoint at the salon on the corner for a shampoo so I don't have to rinse it all out myself (that's the part I hate the most). It's well worth the $10 they charge.

Though I've never been into sci fi I did see Star Wars in the theater when it came out. My brother and I went after work one evening. The only sci fi tv program I enjoyed was Dr. Who but only until Peter Davison as the Doctor. After he regenerated I lost interest.
For the record I love this board. I really feel like I belong and that my posts are appreciated. And it was lovely to be missed when I was hospitalized. Sometimes I post on the other board but it seems like no one listens.

I was never a Star Wars fan, but my son was when her was younger (he's 14 now). Yes he was Darth Vader for Halloween, yes he had the voice changing Darth Vader helmet, and the action figures. But he grew out of it. We probably still have his costume in the Halloween boxes in the attic, and I'm sure DH squirreled away the helmet. The very first sale I made on eBay was selling my son's Star Wars Risk game, new in box, still shrink wrapped, (he got it as a birthday gift and never opened it). It was an exciting auction and sold for $70.
I sold n o t h i n g over the weekend. It was kind of eerie. Made one sale so far today. May is NOT starting out too well. So to drown my sorrow, I went (TS) shopping. That usually picks me up. But it was slim pickins'. Then I went food shopping and came home to two starving teenagers, rototilled a small patch of garden out front to get it ready for planting and now I'm making dinner. Will list later tonight.
And yeah, I sometimes visit the other board, but IMO, it doesn't have the same vibrancy it used to. I will post occasionally if I have something to add, but usually I don't. Oh well.

I saw Star Wars in the theater and a couple of the other the movies, but I was never really a fan. Although it did spawn an especially wonderful episode of Big Bang Theory DH has lots of Star Wars stuff from childhood that he's planning to list when the new movie comes out in December. Star Trek, of course, is an entirely different matter.

I googled the origin of today, woo hoo for the Brits:
(CNN) — It’s not just a pun.
“May the 4th be with you” is a full-fledged unofficial holiday, “Star Wars Day.”
Actually, as far as Lucasfilm and Disney are concerned, it’s quite official.
So why this day, and what is there to do other than watch it trend on Twitter? (After all, it’s apparently important enough to send hardcore fans into a tizzy when they feel it’s been mistreated.)
As legend has it, and according to the origin story recognized by Lucasfilm, the phrase was first used on May 4, 1979, the day Margaret Thatcher took office as UK prime minister. The Conservative party allegedly placed an ad in the London Evening News which read, “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations.”
It took off in the social media age (where it has become a big deal every year) and finally expanded to real-life with events in Toronto. Now, there are events celebrating the day worldwide.
