A visit to my hometown always means a trip to the Homer Laughlin Outlet. A few years ago I got 4 of these plates there for my niece who is into 70s and 80s fashions and pop culture. I've always been sorry I didn't buy one for myself. I happened to mention that when my cousin was here visiting last month. She said she'd ask another cousin, who works at Homer Laughlin, if he knew if there were any left. In today's mail I received my plates. I've decided that I'm going to eat my lunch on one every day I'm working on eBay so I will stay happy.

You must have grown up in the 70s, too. I love the nostalgia of it. You can't get them from Homer Laughlin. I was told I literally got the last ones they had on hand in a warehouse. But I would bet you can get them on eBay. And I found this while looking to see if there was ever a large serving plate. www.bonton.com/sc1/fiesta-dinnerware-smiley-luncheon-plate-203693.htmlIf you want to Google it, I think Smiley is the official pattern name.

How fun! That's adorable! I'm such a fan of Fiestaware. Just love the bright colors, the size and the weight. If I lived near the outlet, my cabinets would probably be overflowing.

If you love Fiestaware, this is the coolest tool to play with colorama.fiestafactorydirect.com/. Although it will make you want to buy new colors or change your color scheme every time you use it. I have java mugs and appetizer plates each one a different color. So if I'm just serving dessert and coffee I can have the fun nothing matches look. But my place settings are in 3 colors that I've been living with long enough that I'm thinking of giving them all to my niece when she moves out. I prefer to buy at the outlet though. So as much as I would like to plan a new color scheme it's unlikely to happen that way. My cupboards are full of Fiesta. I have Hall China in my china cabinet, but we don't use it daily like the Fiesta. I have my BFF and neighbor hooked on Fiesta too so when I go back home I buy mostly for them now. It's even more fun than thrifting for inventory because the goodies are already sold. I can't keep from buying one particular bowl through when they have it in a color I don't already have. They call it a bouillon bowl, but it perfectly holds a scoop of ice cream (or two if you really pack it down ), or custard, or fruit salad. I think I have a dozen of them in my dishwasher right now and at least as many more in the cupboard.

I just started using it recently. I wanted some new coffee mugs a couple of years ago and I thought it'd be fun to have some Fiestaware, so I bought a random set of five (all different colors) on Ebay. They made me happy every morning.
We needed new every day dishes as ours were 16 years old and I decided to splurge (by my definition) and buy Fiestaware. I shopped around for the best price and ended up buying it at Kohl's when they were on sale and I had the 30% off coupon. My kitchen is all black/white/gray, so I thought I'd go crazy and buy each place setting in a different color. I bought the five-piece place settings, which included:
10.5-in. dinner plate 7.25-in. salad plate 19-oz. bowl 7.75-oz. cup 5.8-in. saucer
The salad plates aren't quite as big as my old ones were, but they work for some stuff. I went ahead and bought some 9" luncheon plates at Macy's (sale and coupon, of course) in the same eight colors.
I've never used the cup and saucers and figured I probably wouldn't when I bought the sets, but it was still cheaper to buy by the set than buying the other three pieces individually. I tried to unload the cups/saucers at my garage sale last year, but didn't find any buyers. I should put them on craigslist one of these days. They don't go for much on Ebay and it's not worth the pain of packaging to sell them online.
I like the mugs better than the cups/saucers and I already had the original five of those I'd bought, so that's plenty. DH likes a bigger mug, so I just bought him some cheap brightly colored mugs in similar colors.
