I think I heard about this quite awhile ago but ignored it. He explained it very clearly in his video- thanks for posting this reminder! I'll fix mine before the 1st and watch to see if traffic from outside eBay improves. Right now I get almost NO traffic from Google or the other SE's. If it improves that, it will be worth the time doing it. : )

I changes some but don't know if I'm up to changing everything right now. Do you think it will make any difference?

I'd like to know when this error happened. My sales have been ok but the last few days have sucked. Kind of typical though... Last week of the month hasn't been great lately. Any chance ebay would fix it?

Oh no, we're talking months, maybe a year since the "glitch" was mentioned. It's been a LONG time. I wouldn't expect any help from eBay fixing this. Geez, that sounds negative.... sorry 'bout that. : (

Meh. I'll probably leave it be then.

I've been working on my KWs for store categories tonight. Just looking at it, to a search engine it would look like I've been KW spamming since each and every category has the identical keywords. The more categories, the worse it it.
It's a royal pain to set keywords for the category when the contents of each category changes from day to day. Especially bad is the "other" category since it's a catch-all for this & that. And if you leave any spaces blank, it looks like eBay autofills with their unrelated default which would end up spamming the bots again. Is this what eBay got into trouble with Google about?
I'll keep at it; I'm going to delete some store categories that have no content now just to get rid of the default KW's. Definitely a pain!

That area has been glitchy for a long time. Used to be, if you didn't set up keywords there, eBay just filled in with listing text. Looks like that's still the case except now it's the same stuff for all categories. Guess I'll go change mine again.
I tried a month or two ago but you couldn't even get into that area to edit, so at least that got fixed.

Can't hurt. My sales have been really quiet the last few days too, but obviously that's not related to this. I do want them to be the same for every category & I don't think it's KWS. For example in my size categories, Chico's & CWC are going to be the number one KW in each size b/c they're what I have the most of.
IDK if this will help, as it sounds like it's been a problem area for awhile, but it likely won't hurt.

When you go in to change them, it gives you a couple of tips, and one of them is "Never use keywords that are not related to your page content or repeat the same keyword more than once. These are considered keyword spamming by search engines. Keyword spamming could affect your page ranking or even cause your eBay Store page to be removed from search engines' indexes."
By virtue of the crap that ebay has filled the fields with, I would think it means I am KWS. I admit I do not understand how this stuff works, but unless I change these custom keywords, my Cachet dress has the words "Mens clothing" (one of my store category names) associated with it.

Thanks Somany, I'm not sure either. I have a pair of unusual earrings listed by an ethnic designer. Something very rare for me to list. Every single one of my categories had that as the first KW's. I'm going to wait a few days before I finish to see if they even hold.
I'm assuming they mean not to repeat the same KW WITHIN each category. Of course I could be wrong. I really don't know how this stuff works either.

I finally got in and checked my traffic from search engines beside Cassini. I had a great big 12 visitors during the month of April that were referred by search engines such as Google. It will be interesting to see if those numbers improve after fixing the lousy KWs eBay set up. I'm also curious if it will be worth adjusting them during the month as I list other things, just to keep them current. It should be interesting.
