I'm finishing week 6 of the worst case of bronchitis I've ever had. My sympathies to anyone with breathing difficulties - this elephant on my chest is a pain!
To celebrate feeling semi-healthy I've booked a mini vacation at the end of May with my 4 year old grandson to Orlando.
I'm looking for suggestions for non-Disney activities in the area. (Been there, done that, want to skip a year)
Any suggestions? I will have a rental car so transportation is covered.

Never been there, but you will have more to choose from than you can shake a stick at.... Top list of things to do in Orlando
Wow, 6-weeks of misery...bummer. Glad to hear you're on the mend!

Thanks Bets and Val! I'm overwhelmed by how many choices there are and thought boardie personal favorites would be the best.
I had looked into Silver Springs but they are undergoing major renovations during the spring/summer months this year.
After looking into the activities program run by the resort we're staying with we may not even have to leave the premises. But I'd like to have rainy day options as well.

For rainy days I'd look into what kid friendly museums were close to where you are staying. We've gone to some great ones but I can't remember any of the names, been a few years since we went. We use to go every year or every other year until we got a dog that doesn't like staying at a kennel so now we stay home. At 4 he's going to be pretty entertained with just about anything so no need to spend a lot of money on a theme park. A lot of the aquatic/marine museums have hands on kid areas so I'd keep an eye out for those. Then he can have fun and learn something too.

Sea World is fun too, and like Silver Springs, has a lot of sit down/watch stuff that would appeal to a 4 year old. Love, love, love the Orlando Sea World.

Took my brother to FL when he was 4, we hit all of the touristy Disney and Universal Studio's stuff and we also went to Gatorland. I thought it was neat, he even had his picture taken on the back of a real gator (mouth taped). I wonder if they still do that, it seemed so dangerous but I guess it really wasn't.

Sounds like you already have a resort picked out with activities. And I'm no help as we only did Disney stuff the time we went.
I will tell you though for the future, or anyone else that is looking:
We loved Disney's Ft Wilderness. We got a cabin and hung out at the resort for a couple of days. Walks in the woods, themed and interactive dinner, campfire entertainment in the evening, outdoor pools, grilling on our patio while the kids ran around outside chasing lizards. And there was still more that we didn't do!
No matter what you do, I hope you are feeling great and that you and your grandson have a fantastic time!
