OPTION ONE: To post large pictures: For best results, please use pictures from a hosting site (imgur, photobucket, etc). Use the "reply" button (green button on the top right) to open a reply window. Don't use the "quick reply", you will not see the picture icon in "quick reply". At the bottom of the reply window, pick the tab that reads "BBCode" (similar to the HTML tab in SYI). Click the picture icon:

Go to your picture host (I open another tab on my browser) and copy the text in the "direct" window This is on Photobucket. In Imgur, select the second option "Direct Link Emails & IM". I'm not sure what other sites call it but it wll be the option starting with "http".

Post the html you just copied into the popup window in your 'reply' window and hit the Insert Image button.

OPTION TWO: You can post photos in Quick Reply if you use the image link from your photo hosting site. The one that starts and ends with [ img ]. If you use the image link you can paste it directly into the reply. No need to click the picture icon and paste into the pop up window. I'm posting this from the Quick Reply window. You can also use the regular reply window with the toolbar, but again just paste the link directly in to the reply space.

Val - I don't know how to find my pictures on picasa except the ones in the folders in my desktop. Sorry but I am so computer illiterate.

You just go to your picasa file & choose the photo.

I am able to post only huge, enormous pictures, unless dh resizes them and posts smaller versions on our picture host.

What browser are you using, Emerald? I can't resize on Safari, but if I log in on Firefox, I can resize. I'm on a Mac.

You can upload to picasaweb from picasa and then copy the link of the pic on picasaweb to use here. And I'm stuck and can't upload pics to freaking photobucket OR picasaweb. No idea how to do it at imgur - do you have to have an account?

Yes, you need an account with imgur. It's free and takes only a few minutes to set it up.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So I tried setting up an account. They don't like 64bit firefox for linux. I see a box with 5 lines in it where I'm supposed to type something but there are no labels. Ok, I open seamonkey and try it. AHA! I can see the labels so I type in what they want, pic that one little 40k pic that I wanna upload and they prompt me for a captcha (sp?) with TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENIE WEENIE little letters/numbers. Ok, I put on a 2nd pair of glasses to try to read that crap and type it in - and it's typed correctly - but they say it's wrong. I've typed over 20 freaking captcha things and nothing's right.
I give up. I will never post a pic here.

You don't need an acct at Imgur, I use it without having an acct. It's a little more cumbersome, b/c you have to enter stuff each time & send yourself a link to remind you to delete, but I've used it without an acct all this time.

You can use any photohosting account here.
However, like most websites, they do require the more current versions of browsers and software. Sorry, but the problem sounds like it's with your nontraditional computer set up, unknown, more than it is with the proboards site.

I have absolutely no idea how but my pic is there. I think they don't like 64bit linux - maybe? I dunno. I opened virtual box which has XP, loaded up seamonkey - nope, but firefox in xp works - at least the pic I uploaded is there and they're not asking for a bazillion captcha things. Check chap's 70s thread for my current fav 70s item.

That might be it, unknown. It's a decent forum product, but like most freebies, it's going to cater to the greater denominator and support newer products. I know I can't post pics if I happen to be on my older (hell, very old) Mac, and it's probably because the browsers and flash and all that stuff is horribly outdated on that computer.
