Hopefully this wasn't discussed here already but...
I was just looking at the Seller News message from eBay on the new fee changes. If I am reading this correctly, after May 1 non-store accounts will only get 20 free listings a month which they can use for auction or fixed price. Didn't we used to get 150 free a month?
I also read that if the auction listings sell, we will get the listing fee back. Big Woop. I have to list my things over and over to get them to sell so if the item finally sells and they give me back a few cents it's no big deal.

I don't have a store and I am pretty sure I got 50 free auction listings a month.
I don't do auctions so i never used them but I think that is the right amount.

So it looks like the number is dropping to 20 free auction listings on May 1.

Yes, you're right. They're dropping the free listings from 150 to 20, trying to herd everyone into paying for a basic store. Diabolically brilliant as they'll make a ton of money from that move. But it seems really a stupid move if they want us to list more at auction.

Isn't it 20 free Fixed Price and not auctions?

No store - 20 free listings per mo, any format. ADDITIONAL 20 free auction listings in collectibles only.

Previously: 50 any listings / 50 auctions in the select categories (clothing was one). So, you got 100. Changing to: 20 any listings / 20 auctions in the select categories. Now you'll get 40.
Stores will have all of their included listings be Fixed Price only and will get 100 auctions to be used in the collectible categories. If you like auctions and do not list collectibles, you will pay for auctions now.
PS - Non-stores never got 150 listings.

Oh, didn't realize it was 20+ 20. I'm considering dumping my store for awhile- that makes a tiny difference.

I wish they would make listing designer free. Seriously it is such a stupid fee.

I think I am going to have to break down and finally go for the basic store. Perhaps knowing I have to pay that monthly will be motivation to list more consistently.

Basic stores got 150 free listings well until May 1st that is. They still will after May 1st, but they all have to be fixed price. If you list collectibles, you'll get 100 auctions, too.

Wait, now I'm confused. I just looked at the chart Ahrn put up. I have a premium store. Isn't the 500 now to be used for either auctions or FP? Am I reading that right that it will only be FP come 5/1?

That's how I interpret it - on 5/1, Premium Stores will get 500 free FP (all categories) + 100 free auctions in these categories only: Antiques, Art, Coins & Paper Money, Collectibles, Dolls & Bears, Entertainment Memorabilia, Pottery & Glass, Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop, Stamps, Toys & Hobbies.

Well that sucks! I didn't auction often, but I liked having the flexibility to do so at no add'l cost.

Hopefully they will still have promos. But I didn't get the latest one.

I have a premium store. Starting 5/1 I will get 500 FP listings with my store vs. before I had 500 listings and they could be FP or auction. Store owners will pay auction fees now unless they are in the collectables category.
99% of what I list is FP so it really wont affect me other than $1-$2 a month for the few items I decide to auction.

I guess that it is good that I list slowly. My goal is to list at least 5 a day. Since I am catching up with the misc stuff, I will soon be back to listing clothing (as long as I keep pulling 12 items a week for consignment to make room on my racks). So I agree that the 50 cents a day won't kill me.

I list almost 100% auctions, so this absolutely kills me.
However, I'm not going to let it. I refuse to.

The free auctions aren't limited to the Collectibles category. Typical confusing Ebay language - they say all stores will get 100 free auctions for Collectibles (with a capital C), but that line is footnoted -- here's the footnote:
3) Collectibles includes listings in the following categories: Antiques Art Coins & Paper Money Collectibles Dolls & Bears Entertainment Memorabilia Pottery & Glass Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop Stamps Toys & Hobbies

I'm just wondering why "collectibles" is the only category that is getting the "free" 100 auctions? I don't sell collectibles and I feel slighted, lol.

Because Wenig wants to return Ebay to its roots, as a place where people go to find collectables. Of course he also says that 70% of items on the site are new and that is the wave of Ebay's future.

Read ahrncity's post #21 above. The free auctions are in several "collectible" categories, not just THE Collectible category.
Stamps is one of those, Jeremy.
Also, 10 day auctions are included in the free categories.
