Blue Bell still not back on the shelves at HEB yesterday either. This is not only a blow to their bottom line but also a blow to their market share. I think it will be short-lived though. Every article I read about the recalls, the comments were easily 95% in favor of how BlueBell handled it, and saying they'd stock right back up again when it was available. With so many corporations trying to dodge the issue or blame others, it was nice to see a company put their customers ahead of a few extra sales until the issue was outed by the media.

I am trying to gain weight and add several scoops of french vanilla ice cream to my coffee in the AM. Sometimes I will have 2 cups of coffee loaded with ice cream. And I get the Blue Bell Rocky Road for my protein drinks... adding several scoops to some milk with the protein powder and blend with a mixing wand. And lately I have been adding an egg yolk too. So not sure what to do about not having the Rocky Road available... Sherlock, for the past year my SO has undergone significant, unexplained weight loss. He's been on high protein shakes/bars and still shows low protein blood levels. But I decided to change things up a bit for him several weeks ago, and so far he's not lost any more weight...in fact, he's gained 2 pounds and his pants aren't quite as loose. I'm giving him 2 scoops of protein powder in his shakes, using whole milk and adding half & half cream along with French vanilla coffee creamer. If our freezer wasn't so full, I'd be adding ice cream. As an aside, I just ordered him 5 large 32 serving containers of all natural protein powder...got 5 with 'free' shipping for just $70 @ puritan.com

Val, I don't think it is an issue with store chains stocking back up because Blue Bell pays them a slotting fee to be on the shelf in the first place.
Its more the customers who bought Blue Bell that are now buying a competitor brand because BB is not available. They may just find a cheaper brand that they like just as much or more and stay with that product when BB comes back.
I worked for General Mills and their worst nightmare in a store was being out of stock on an item. It opens the door for a competitor to grab your customer and have them try their product at your expense.

None here yet.
Their slots were totally empty but with a sign that it would be coming back soon.
It's a popular brand here and they buy more slotting space then all the other brands, so the empty space was huge.
I ended up buying Blue Bunny, but I will be back to Blue Bell as soon as it hits the shelves again.

Blue Bell has the most slotting space at HEB with the exception of the HEB brand that dominates the ice cream freezer.
I am betting that Blue Bell is going to have some kind of kick ass promotion to get their customers back.

I've never had Blue Bell Ice Cream. Didn't even know it existed until this thread came along.

You poor thing. You've missed some good ice cream.
Kritter, loyal buyers will return. Other new ones may come along after reading about it, they'll offset the cheapskates who went elsewhere. I still think in the long run, they'll be OK.
I'm buying Tilamook right now, but I'll be back to BB as soon as it's on the shelves.
Except I may still buy the Tilamookies, they're really good and no one has anything like it. Yum!

Indeed they do have ice cream. The Tilabars are great (coconut punch is so/so though), but the Tilamookies are really good. Ice cream sandwich, but the 'sandwich' part is a cookie made from ice cream cone, with a layer of chocolate, and then different ice cream flavors in the middle.

I had no idea that Tillamook offered ice cream, Greek yogurt and sour cream too. LOL I like the looks of the Tillabars and the Tillamookies and will ask my local market to get some in. But I am in Florida and it looks like their ice cream products are only on the West Coast.

If you are ever up there in Oregon make sure to take their factory tour.
Fascinating to see how all their products are made, plus you get samples.
I love love love their cheese.

Never heard of Tillamook, ice cream gets eaten too fast in this house to buy blue bell too. Between Dh and the kids it vanishes before it has time to get cold in the freezer. Our WM is redoing it's freezer section to a new layout so they have a freezer at the end full of $1 items to clear them out. I try to remember to check it for ice cream when I go there. Got a bunch of Hagendaaz bars the other day and Bryers peppermint cookie and Strawberry cheesecake ice cream for $1 each. Can't beat that price.
My tummy doesn't like ice cream anymore, I get so sick, but oddly enough I can eat Gelato without it bother me as long as I don't eat too much. So the mint chocolate gelato is my go to when I need an ice cream fix.

Just remember for all your favorite brands, they can't recall it if you eat it first!
And for the record, LaSalle coconut almond ice cream. Very cheap. Very, very g-o-o-o-od!!!

I rarely throw out anything for a recall. Usually we are already half way through whatever it is and I figure it was gonna kill us it would have by then so we just finish it off.
